I went to Coinex in London today.
Overwhelming collection of coin dealers and their wares, saw some wonderful coins and bought this.

It has been a while since I added a coin to my collection, but I did add a piece of currency to my collection.

I have been VERY SLOWLY trying to assemble a collection of one piece of currency from each of the states of the Confederate States of America.

Last weekend, at a coin show in Arkansas, a dealer (that I have known for several years) told me that Florida and Arkansas are the two toughest states to acquire. (I had two from Florida--one state issue and one Tallahassee Railroad issue, but none from Arkansas).

He told me about general prices for Arkansas notes, then the lowest price he quoted was $95 for one. I passed.

This weekend, I attended a coin show in the Dallas area, and acquired a satisfactory Arkansas note for $45.

It is an Arkansas Treasury Warrant for $10, dated 1864.
After spending a couple hours carefully scraping off layers of dirt, this is the end result :)

I know nothing about Condor tokens, but that obverse does not look British at all!

I'd have thought it was supposed to be a Russian or Austrian eagle. :D
I see. Thanks. Also a condor is a bird; the tokens are named after James Conder who
was one of the first to catalogue them at the time. :D
