2½ Gulden, reeded edge, medal alignment [επιλυμένο]

Dear Friends,

I’ve gotten my hands on a coin that I found a bit untypical. It is Y1930 2½ Gulden (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6551.html), but unlike what is specified in the Catalogue, it has a reeded edge and medal alignment.

Also, it is 10% heavier (about 27.5 g), but diameter and thickness are the same, at least with my precision of measurements. It is unlikely to be a counterfeit as it is most probably made from silver (“blow and it rings” test gives positive result). Is it some kind of replica, trial strike, error, unknown variation or is this coin from some Netherlands territories and I just failed to find it?

Thanks in advance for your response.

have you confirmed its silver throughout the coin?

And that its not just plated?

Any other unusal things like diffrent mintmarks or is it just the reeded edge and the medal alingment?
About silver it is just my guess, but it is supported by the weight of the coin and that it rings few seconds when one blows on it. Mintmarks and other details seem to be correct for this year, but as far as I know, medal alignment and reeded edge are quite untypical.

Moi NumiSerge,
Have a good look at the coinpage and compare the details, it is some crude copy of the coin in question ... they did not even try to get close to the original portrait (clearly a form of lèse-majesté ;) ). Also compare the pearls around the coin and see the uneven lettering. I can't comment on the metal, but doubt they'd make such copies in silver as there is hardly any additional numismatic value for this cointype.
Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!
Hi NumiSerge,

i just looked at my specimen from 1933 and i totally agree with BramVB. Especially the face of the queen is obviously ugly. She was much more beautiful :D
So its definately a fake. But sometimes such counterfeits may be a nice addition to a collection. Especially when it's a historical fake and not some lousy cheap imitations from Aliexpress.

Best regards.

Definitely a fake of some kind. The portraits of Queen Wilhelmina are completely different.
Dear All,

Thanks for your answers; now I am convinced that it is a fake. However, as said, it is interesting as such since it leaves a number of questions. And one of them: why bother to make a reeded edge as it clearly distinguishes this fake from legal coin? And about its composition: I still give like 50% that is is based on silver, but one day I'll conduct more precise test.

Best regards
