Hello everyone. Been awhile since I've posted but I'm just wishing for everyone to stay safe during this pandemic. Also I'm wondering what the situations are like currently in your state (if you live in the US) or country just out of curiosity. Currently in Ohio all schools public and private have been cancelled for at least 3 weeks but the governor has been thinking even longer may be possible. Also recently all dinning rooms in restaurants were closed and bars so that will probably leave many people jobless for awhile. Walmarts now actually close at 11 PM and are no longer open 24 hours. Also mass gatherings of over 100 people were also banned for the time being. Ohio is currently at 50 confirmed cases which has jumped from 37 cases on Sunday. With 14 out of the 50 cases being hospitalized. Really do hope the virus doesn't spread as bad as it did in Italy but only time will tell. Let me know whats happening in your guys states or countries if u don't live in the US.
We here in Hong Kong have also had our schools cancelled, it's been nearly two months since I've seen my classmates. We haven't been to school since Chinese New Year holiday. Your school closure will most likely be extended, as ours have had. I'm expecting ours to continue to be as well.
If you're in school, then you might think school closure is the best thing to ever happen. Trust me, it is not. You will grow to hate it.
In HK, the spread has mostly been contained, but I won't give the government any credit for that. The government tried to let mainland Chinese people get free medical treatment (even though HKers don't) and also tried to make a major crossing free to use. Only when people protested against that decision and some medical workers went on strike did the government close some of the borders. Really, I think the main reason is that the medical workers have been doing their best and the vast majority of HK people wear masks when they go out. It works really well, better than social distancing. Combined with some degree of social distancing, wearing masks is an effective way of containing a virus, but not a lot of western people in both HK and western countries seem to understand that.

New Zealand things have gone from 5 cases on Monday to 20 today. Most are travellers.
On Sunday we made every flight from overseas except the Pacific Islands force its passengers to self isolate for 14 days and have threatened arrest on anyone who does not. Two Asians were arrested jailed and will be deported after 14 days.
Sadly one child at a high school had it and the school has shut down for 2 days - we have cancelled a memorial service for victims of the March 15 2019 Mosque attacks which a racist piece of white trash murdered 51 Muslims, and cancelled Pasifika and Polyfest two big Pacific Island festivals. Warbirds over Wanaka a flying festival held in April has also been canned.
A concert by Chemical Brothers has also been cancelled.
All flights into New Zealand have been reduced by 85%.
Supermarkets have imposed limits on pnic buying after the announcement of cases caused mostly Asian New Zealanders to buy up all the toilet paper, hand sanitiser and rice in several supermarkets.
Outdoor gatherings of 500+ and Indoor of 100+ have been cancelled, yet the downgraded NZ2020 Stamp show will go ahead and starts tomorrow.
The country has got angry at a French Canadian tourist who had coronavirus and thought it was okay to walk around Wellington and sit in a cafe and he was unrepentant. The tourist has been fined $1000 and will be deported after his recovery and given a 3 year ban from entering again.
The cafe that Andre Reynaud (Aged 69) was in has shut down permanently.
The socialist government however has announced a 12.1 billion dollar relief package in which companies will be reimbursed for workers laid off by the crisis. A great policy it has been cirticised by the fanatical neo liberal capitalist pig party - National for being too generous to beneficiaries and low income earners who wages increase on April 1st.
New Zealand is still in the contain and stamp it out category and a Public health emergency has not been declared yet. Of the 20 cases 19 were mild and 1 was moderate needing a hospital stay - our first one on Feb 28th an elderly Iranian woman.

20 is still quite low but that can grow quickly.
My hometown city of Stuttgart has at the moment 196 confirmed cases but the dark figure is estimated to be around 10 times higher.
No lockdown yet in Germany and people still walk around as nothing happened, only our supermarkets are suffering panic buys.
Since 4 days i try to find toilet paper but no sucess yet. All non essential shops have been closed since yesterday.
Impossible to find masks as government has taken all for hospitals, doctors etc.
Current figure for Germany is 9.360 positively tested people.

Here in Ireland there is no problem with getting toilet paper thanks in part to the German company aldi.
I'm not a vulnerable person or a key worker. However I am a worker who leaves for work before 6.00 am and gets home after 6.00 pm six days a week. Needless to say I have found it impossible to buy essentials like loo rolls and soap due to the panic. I am pleased the Supermarkets have recognised the elderly and NHS staff but as I am neither I am struggling to get these simple items for my family. Sunday tomorrow so gonna try and get to the shops early ....good luck everyone and keep safe.
I live in Italy, in a region called Marche. We have 2153 infected on 5740 test done.
Last week I worked (the factory where I work produce plastic stuff for home and garden...) we are not used to masks as in Asia but we learned immediately and isn't not a shame anymore, by the masks we respect each other because we have fear, fear of infecting our families, our parents and our grannies (many die alone because covid). My granpa is 99 yo since thursday 19 march and you can imagine we didn't have a big party. Here not even neighbors can meet and you can't take a walk (max 200 meters from your house).
Last night our premier blocked a lot of activities maybe also the factory where I work but I still don't know.
There is a good thing that you can do, a message of hope, I did it with my daughter, take a white sheet, draw a rainbow, write "everything will be OK" and hang it outside the window or terrace.

Hi
We are with you. I think of you daily and that match your country.
I wish you health and most of all, it will stop.
Believe that now work is not the main thing. It stops only 100 percent quarantine for three weeks.
If the transmission does not stop it is still a risk , because states have few lung ventilators.
I am sorry for the states that have sacrificed their population like Holland, and America in the first place -occurs on Duck wish gradually increasing in numbers / their values will not be taken away / England woke up and maybe too late. I haven't understood Merkel yet what her intention is.
Think what and how you will not be sheep for slaughter.
I wish everyone safe.

Hi djmully, I heard some Dutch supermarkets set aside grocery packages for health care workers.
Explain your situation to your local supermarket and I'm sure you will find a willing ear.

We all pray this thing ends soon,Its so sad seeing news about Italy, its unimaginable for us how hard time is for the people there .Here in Kolkata (India )till today official figures of infection is just 4 but everyone is in fear ,people are buying, hording essential things randomly.
There was a rehearsal lock down for whole country today only few essential services were open , everyone was advised by our Prime minister to stay home as a Curfew by the people for the people.
Its was very stressful seeing news on TV as there is a proposal by Center Government for total lockdown of our city and many important cities in whole of India for upto 31st March and if required it will be extended .We don't know what will happen to our jobs ,how long this will go ,will food will available, will banks will be open.Middle class families and poor daily wage people will be severely affected by this lock down. We know lock down is only solution to this problem.Hope by the grace of God everything will be fine soon.
As it was People's curfew today for whole day I was in my home ,I was surfing Numista and enjoying my collection and my son tried to draw a scenery from Bolivia 50 centavos 1965 https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces3224.html
This made me smile
- 61401 total tests
- 7158 new cases today, for a total of 17530
- 58 new deaths today, for a total of 114
In several days, the hospitals in NY City will be overrun and triaging will have to begin. Supposedly, NY City has contingency plans to handle up to 50000 corpses per day, by hauling them to Hart Island (in Long Island Sound) and burying them in mass burial pits. Let's hope things don't get that bad.
Ohio's at 247 confirmed cases rn, none confirmed around here yet but I'm sure theres a few, The governor is supposed to be on later today to announce more closings. State probably will eventually be put on lock down like CA and other states.
Actually I think we were given alot of time to prepare. But because of some people stubbornness, do not want to listen, we ended up in today state. Worst still some people even made fun of it until it reached them and no longer they are funny when people are dying.
In Singapore, alot of people are saying and requesting to close the borders. Because almost 70 to 80 percent are imported cases. They should just close the dam stupid borders. They even come out stupid policy like if they (forigeners) are sick ask them to go back to their country to seek treatment. That is the worst decision ever. Why not just lock down once and for all and clear the numbers?
Malaysia has started to locked down. Reason been is also alot of them does not want to admit they have attended the reglious meeting fearing will get repercussions from their family members or friends. That one I am not very sure but there have been police going their houses to raid them for checkup.
To all the people out their, stay safe and always be responsible. Think logically and think for the people around you.
Be kind to people. Sharing is Caring. Collect what you like and not by the Crowd.
To seek for perfection, it is too painful and there is a very high price to pay. To seek for something comfortable is more easy. To seek for nothing is even more easy.
All workplaces and schools will close on Wednesday night and Thursday 26 March we will enter self quarantine for 4 weeks and this could be extended.
We have until then to prepare as we are on level 3 (Level 4 is the highest).
This is because we have gone from 20, 28, 39, 53, 66, 102 cases each day and now we have 2 community cases. It is to stop us becoming Italy. It is hoped cases will stop in the Hundreds.
The government is planning income for all and all supermarkets, pharmacies, petrol stations and essential services will remain open. The school holidays have been bought forward.
As I deliver newspapers at night, I may still be allowed to work.

In Greece we have lockdown very early and thanks God until now we have 50 dies. We hope that it will get better soon for Italy and Spain that they have the biggest problem now.
I work as a train driver so I'm working as usual. It's 1:03 AM right now, and I still have 47 minutes left at work. I drive the commute trains and regional trains. We still have trains to drive, but the total amount of passengers has declined by 45% the last month. The long distance trains cancel at least 50% of their trips. It'll be interesting to see for how much longer people will be commuting.
Απόσπασμα: "ZacUK" So you wrote that while you were driving ?!!
LOL! No, I would never! (Seriously, I wouldn't!). I was sitting as an stand in/extra from 1 AM to 1:50 AM, so I was sitting safe and sound by a computer in the office.
Once I was trying to reply to an FB post while driving, but I was only writing when I was standing still at platforms. It took me about an hour to write "Haha, that was funny! 😁". When I pressed send I just had one more stop before the end station. Could've just waited 5 more minutes, but it was really funny and needed a quick respons.
