2 Deutsche Mark Ludwig Erhard - error coin? [επιλυμένο]

This is a 1990F 2 Mark coin.
I've noticed that there is a missing dot to the right of Ludwig's face: (above the 1988)


Is it some kind of variant, or just a mint error? What is the value of such a coin?

You can still see the remnants of it so I would guess a clogged die.

​That was my best guess as well; probably grease.

So, this coin is scrap because of the error, or the value (which is low anyhow) isn't affected by it?
