There are numerous cases where a coin covers the rule of 2+ ruling authorities, e.g., for the Russian Empire:
20 Kopecks - Aleksandr I / Nikolai I
Poltina - Aleksandr I / Nikolai I
1 Ruble - Aleksandr I / Nikolai I
25 Kopecks - Aleksandr II / III
Poltina - Aleksandr II / III
etc
Should we leave the Ruling Authority as 'Unidentified' or set it to the first ruler or set it to the one that covers more years of rule or should we have a multiple selection for that field???
I am willing to do the updates but I cannot figure what to do.

I suggest enabling multi-selection for "Ruling authority" when editing the item (but some DB adoption works should be done)
I have a suggestion if I may? In some of the modern greek coins they have put the coin under the first monarc and then made so in the comment field on each year, specified which monark it was under. Like on this: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces532.html
That will of course take some (if not a lot of) work from the community and moderaters to implement/modify. But that's an idea I think will be a good "compromise" between having order in the rulers, who aren't/weren't co-rulers, and the fact that I can't see how multiple choise can be implemented, when you sort the list by ruling authority.
It will of course make it a little tiny bit harder to sort by ruling authority, if one only want from one specific monark, but one can alternatively just search for the monark in the search field, instead of the blue link thing, with the monarc or drop down menu.
