However, I am quite suspecious to its authenticity as the calligraphy for Japan coins should not looking “crude”

put it under unkown for the time beeing, the comments are relative useless as of right now

I know nothing about Japanese coins. Why would anyone copy them? Perhaps for turists? But I am pleased to have a Japanese coin even though it might be a reproduction. Thank you.

I wouldn't say it's a copy or repo, there are all kinds of qualities with these Mon types depending on the mint and or the time of production.
You can't easily compare it to the Chinese contemporary coinage which was most often of better quality.

Chinese and Japanese coins, they are so different from ours. The coin I showed I got together with a number of old German coins. I have admired your collection. I will have to study Japnese and Chinese coins. Thank you all for your comments.
