Special characters [επιλυμένο]

Would it be too much of a trouble to ask, that admins add in "special keyboard" field another option like "Special characters", where you can find character for GBP (Pound), dollar, Euro, Yen. I am pretty sure, that this optional keyboard shall be filled with more of such characters in future. Currently man has to open Word and copy the bugger to Numista.

Well, most keyboards have the $, £, and € as standard. At least European keyboards, I think. This is how my keyboard looks like:


But hey, at least you got the cent/centavo sign.


But I agree. The currency signs could be its own keyboard.
To make it easy I add all symbols I know here - in no order what so ever.

If you use Windows 10 you will get every ASCII symbol you need by pressing Windows key + . (period)

If you use Excel, press the INSERT tab then press the SYMBOL tab. You'll get a small pop up window with tons of symbols from around the world.

Thank you all, I'll try to make a lexicon of all the proposals and how to input these characters, by just falling short of maybe more simple solution of just adding such keyboard.

Hello,
This is implemented, with the list of currency symbols provided by ngdawa above, just adding the "cent" symbol (which it is now part of both the Latin keyboard and the Currency symbol keyboard).
Please let me know if other currency symbols need to be added.

I forgot to mention that you need to clear the cache of your browser or wait up to 1 month to see it.

One more question. Is it possible to add another keyboard with "other" letters or signs, for instance like this one ✻. "Six pointed star" is commonly used beside numbers on German Notgeld banknotes. There are probably much more such special characters, which are not readily available on physical keyboard (probably not even with some key-shortcuts). Or question in another way - how many such signs should there be accounted for, for you to add it as another "Other special characters" keyboard.

Stars could definitely be added.

The character you mentioned is officially known as "TEARDROP-SPOKED ASTERISK". Perhaps the following characters could also represent stars as visible on coins and banknotes:
★ BLACK STAR
✶ SIX POINTED BLACK STAR
✳ EIGHT SPOKED ASTERISK
✷ EIGHT POINTED RECTILINEAR BLACK STAR
✹ TWELVE POINTED BLACK STAR

I believe they can be useful if they are part of the lettering of a coin or banknote, like the interpunct (·) which is already part of the Latin keyboard. The usage should be restricted to lettering only, there is no point to try replicating an illustration which contains stars.

Do you have some examples of coins or banknotes where one of those symbols could be useful?
