It's an ex-mount so let's get that out of the way first of all. However a friend who is also a skilled metallurgist has removed the clasp leaving very little trace apart from some discoloration at the rim, I'll leave the options for fixing that to the new owner. (Outstanding job BTW my dear fellow, you have some mad skills!)

Without issues this would be a coin with a price in excess of $150, but as it currently stands it's value is considerably reduced, probably between a half to two thirds. I'm pretty flexible on the matter.

Grade - VF+. Strong, well centered strike. 20.5mm / 2.5g.

Pretty eh? A less morally upright person might be tempted to re-tone it and pass it off on eBay without a full disclosure. Please don't.

It's very hard to put a value on such a coin, I'd say more than a holed coin, less than a lightly cleaned one. However the forum rules require it so here goes.

$50 + shipping at cost, PayPal. Or swap value $75, no "pocket change" please. State your case, make your offer and I'll at the very least give it some consideration.
Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

Certainly a nice coin even it's an ex-mount. Should definitely be added on numista catalog (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces144317.html, https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces63420.html). Dunno why there are catalogs for 1537 and 1539 but no 1538 3 Grosze.

Thanks. It's been a while since I got this coin so my memory might be a little hazy but I recall trying to have it added to the catalog at the time. It wasn't clear whether an extra line should be added for the 1538 year or a whole new coin page created as was done for the 1539 issues. I didn't receive a reply so there wasn't much point in pursuing the matter.

Hi Phil you still have?
It is, what it is, or is it.
Yes Sir, and for an old friend such as yourself, the prices above don't apply.

<Gasp> did you just use the term "rare"? ;)
What? Me Worry
Απόσπασμα: "neilithicman"<Gasp> did you just use the term "rare"? ;)
"rare" is overly used these day in coin market although I agree with his coin's rarity. There should be more terms determining the level of coin rarity starting from "common," "uncommon" all the way up to "epic," "legendary" like loots you find in online games.

Yes indeed, R3 as I recall. I have exactly six (now five I reckon) rare coins from a total of over 6,000 but plenty of key dates and scarce coins. Of those six, three are rare only by virtue of varieties, 2x 1926ME 1d, 1 Coesfeld Pfennig with reversed quadrants, and one is a low grade coin which negates any real value. So in strictest sense I own a single outright rare coin. Sad eh?

It's like these rare coins are really, really hard to find or something!

You can contact either geraltttt82, doc_man, or druzhynets to get request approval, although I know druzhynets is fairly busy approving other coins atm. It is better you provide all the specifications on that coin along with the coin pictures.

LOL! I thought the exact same thing. The term "rare" feels more like a noob term, or a term scammers use to fool newcomers to buy common coins for 100 times the MV.

Specs are available from the links in the OP. I reckon the photos above will serve and if any permission is needed for their use, please take this post as my consent.

I would have added it long ago but I'm not sure if it should be added as a separate coin or if all 3 coins should be combined and split 1537, 1538, and 1539. I can't see any difference between them but I don't have access to catalogs for the period so I may be overlooking something. In the absence of a reply there didn't seem much point in proceeding. I hope someone else will have more luck.
