Hello, hello!

Kicking off this month with my fourth Weimar 3RM commemorative that just arrived in the mail this morning:

As usual, a more complex post about it is available on my special thread here. :)
5 Lei Romania 1882

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces25564.html

I'm in love with this coin, paid 40 Euro for it but is one of the rarest 5 Lei Silver.
2 Mark - German Empire - 1908

got a coin I wanted for a very long time from my alma mater, not the 5 Mark but maybe in the future I'll find a reasonably priced one

I never thought to met those coins in real life, but today I was lucky.

My third Weimar 3 RM commemorative this month (sixth in total!!):

I have one more on the way and two more from Bartweegie on hold for me!
Iam not sure if this is really new for me. Found last month in one of my piles of coins. Did not know I had. Or how long I have had. I really have a mess. But it is now my oldest error coin
Sumatra 1/2 Duit 1822 Km 280
Still need to do some work on it.

It is, what it is, or is it.
Got some nice stuff today:
- A Claudius As (https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces65951.html or https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces63496.html - too worn to know the difference since only "AVDIVS CAES" is readable);
- A Malacca keping;
- A French liard (didn't know that Navarre was once part of France, thought it was Spanish when I bought);
- An old Argentine coin;
- A French Guyana coin;
- 3 old Portuguese banknotes (100 réis of 1891, 10 centavos of 1917 and 20 centavos of 1922);
- and an old postcard of my town, nearly 50 years old, depicting the suspension bridge (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%A3o_Vicente_Suspension_Bridge).

And one more thing, the tiny coin I mentioned in February's thread was identified as a copper kasu of the Nayaks of Madurai (unknown type).
First three additions for this month ...

Just bought and paid for this beauty

Always wanted an Australian crown and at a nice price ($34 NZ about 20 Euros and 18 Pounds)

This coin looks about decent gVF to EF condition. Some light wear and a couple of knicks around 2 oclock on the Kings head.

It fills the brief of big silver coin (Sterling and 25 grams of silver). I also bought it, as the coin was a failed one, minted just two years and the public never took to them (It was intended to be a circulation rather than commemorative coin.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

More when I get it.
Sadly this lot has fallen through, because the seller refuses to send to my PO BOx and I have been waiting over a week for him to deliver them to me (He lives like 20km away). I gave him an ultimatum and he decided to chicken out - sorry to get everyones hopes up.

The Crown has not arrived either - our postal service in this country is just 3rd world, and it could be the terrorist attacks to blame.

A guilder from British Guyana I got for just 6 euro! I'm pretty sure the seller thought this was the common William IV British shilling, given the similarities in design and size- but this coin has only 57k mintage.

From a Russian member, my first silver wire kopeck- this one is from 1612-17, when Michael Romanov first established his namesake dynasty that would last another 305 years.

It's surprisingly lighter than I thought it'd be from the pictures
A lot I bought last week arrived here today

It is 2 x 1951 Festival of Britain crowns in their original boxes and 2 x Silver $10 coins of Australia from 1982.

These Australian silver coins were started in 1982 and issued through the 80s.
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces43855.html

They only cost a bit more than the 1966 50 cent piece ($12 vs $17 each)
They look similar to 66's except they are larger (34 mm vs 31.5mm), are more silver (92.5% vs 80%) and are heavier (20 grams vs 14.5grams). They also have a lower mintage level (120k vs 36 million). Hence why I like them and they cost 20% over face postpaid and as you can see are sparkling BU condition.
They also have a higher face value ($10 vs 50cents)

The Festival of Britain crowns are great too, these are both BU coins in their original boxes.
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces10641.html

The coins are base metal, but are still large and the cases survive after 68 years. One is green and other is magenta, I thought there may be a difference, but they are the same coin and quality - one had the little paper insert. I wonder how many other coloured boxes there were (I have seen blue ones). Possibly these coins were issued in multiple cases, so ration starved people could get more than one, and spend some cash burning a hole in their pocket. I paid about $15 each for them. Probably a lot but the event has always fascinated me.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

The lot also included this weird 1953 set of UK coins

Basically a mint set of coins from ¼d to 2/6 from 1953 issued as part of the Queen's Coronation.

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6981.html

These were the coins with the longer inscription. The coins cover all values except the 6d which seems to have slipped out in the past?

Originally I thought these coins were merely packaged in this plastic shell by the seller, but noticed the writing at top has designer credits and refers to New Designs. This was obviously a mint set sold back in 1953. The coins look nice, yet 65 years of burnishing have taken their toll and some of the obverses show some light rubbing and the coins are cloudy.

I am amazed they used plastic that far back, well 66 years has been unkind asnd the plastic is cracking on the sides and weakening and that is probably how the 6d fell out sometime in the past.

Still for $14 NZD a fascinating purchase.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Finally got it today and its better than expected, looking at it, I would say its AU/Slider BU, it practically has no wear at all and lots of natural lustre. I spent $30 on a $100 coin basically and are happy.

It does have the usual dings and nicks, but according to Australian catalogue, these are normal on the Crowns due to coins being on conveyer belt and landing on each other in a bucket! (After all they were meant to be circulation pieces, so no gloves, mirror frosting or pulling out set pieces).
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
