Απόσπασμα: "Idolenz"2 Mark - German Empire - 1908
got a coin I wanted for a very long time from my alma mater, not the 5 Mark but maybe in the future I'll find a reasonably priced one
My findings from todays fleamarket-visit!
This is my first atempt of scanning pictures, so please consider the quality...
I never thought to met those coins in real life, but today I was lucky.
The quality could be a litlle better, but I am very happy with them.

Got some really nice 16th - 18th century coins this week:
2 awesome coins from Poland/and Danzig
Some Italian stuff (Duchy of Savoy, Duchy of Milan)
And 3 more little silver coins. I think the Kreuzer on the right is not yet on numista.
Απόσπασμα: "Roublizer"Here are some California fractional gold pieces
The middle one is unfortunately pretty damaged, but it seems to be pretty scarce, being designated R6.
Novgorod Republic State coinage. 12th-15th centuries. AR Poltina/Half Grivna Ingot (17x15x67mm, 99.60 g).
Nice, but how do you know? I do not see any inscription on the pictures. Can you shine
a little bit more light on this ingots? I will really appreciate that.
Thanks
My lil bro brought it from Italy, I am super happy for it. It looks even better than the one in the catalog page (retated, how to submit pics for the page?).
Some very respectable people have told me it looks great
Lots of Canadian 19th Century and some 18th and 19th Century British date additions today but most importantly,
finished off small Canadian cents with the 1923
1950 British Penny
1926 Canada Nickel Far 6
1910 Canada 50 Cent Victorian Leaves
were the highlights
Iam not sure if this is really new for me. Found last month in one of my piles of coins. Did not know I had. Or how long I have had. I really have a mess. But it is now my oldest error coin
Sumatra 1/2 Duit 1822 Km 280
Still need to do some work on it.

Always wanted an Australian crown and at a nice price ($34 NZ about 20 Euros and 18 Pounds)
This coin looks about decent gVF to EF condition. Some light wear and a couple of knicks around 2 oclock on the Kings head.
It fills the brief of big silver coin (Sterling and 25 grams of silver). I also bought it, as the coin was a failed one, minted just two years and the public never took to them (It was intended to be a circulation rather than commemorative coin.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

'Mini jeton Napoléon empereur, Le Sénat' https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces63071.html
These little silver jetons were thrown to the crowd (a practice started by the Romans)
at the coronation in 1805. I could hope Napoleon threw this jeton himself.
'Jeton de Louis XV Trésor Royal en bronze'

The last three I got from the same seller, in France, so saving postage.
Lot of stuff, I had purchased, but never received due to a lazy and greedy vendor.
Details removed, but it appears in my later post

Απόσπασμα: "Moneytane"Just bought a major Dutch coin collection
Includes a coin called a Scheepschilling from 1678 - my new oldest coin
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces17473.html
My new oldest coin and you will all see it in the coin of the year thread in about 3 months!
Also 3 large 2½ guilder coins including a very nice Willem 3 of 1872 and UNC 1940 Wilhelmina (.720 fine)
More when I get it.
Sadly this lot has fallen through, because the seller refuses to send to my PO BOx and I have been waiting over a week for him to deliver them to me (He lives like 20km away). I gave him an ultimatum and he decided to chicken out - sorry to get everyones hopes up.
The Crown has not arrived either - our postal service in this country is just 3rd world, and it could be the terrorist attacks to blame.
I have bought some other stuff and will show it when I get it. I will no longer post things until I have them in my hot little hands.

A nice big Chinese half dollar from Yunnan province.
A guilder from British Guyana I got for just 6 euro! I'm pretty sure the seller thought this was the common William IV British shilling, given the similarities in design and size- but this coin has only 57k mintage.
From a Russian member, my first silver wire kopeck- this one is from 1612-17, when Michael Romanov first established his namesake dynasty that would last another 305 years.
They only cost a bit more than the 1966 50 cent piece ($12 vs $17 each)
They look similar to 66's except they are larger (34 mm vs 31.5mm), are more silver (92.5% vs 80%) and are heavier (20 grams vs 14.5grams). They also have a lower mintage level (120k vs 36 million). Hence why I like them and they cost 20% over face postpaid and as you can see are sparkling BU condition.
They also have a higher face value ($10 vs 50cents)
The coins are base metal, but are still large and the cases survive after 68 years. One is green and other is magenta, I thought there may be a difference, but they are the same coin and quality - one had the little paper insert. I wonder how many other coloured boxes there were (I have seen blue ones). Possibly these coins were issued in multiple cases, so ration starved people could get more than one, and spend some cash burning a hole in their pocket. I paid about $15 each for them. Probably a lot but the event has always fascinated me.

These were the coins with the longer inscription. The coins cover all values except the 6d which seems to have slipped out in the past?
Originally I thought these coins were merely packaged in this plastic shell by the seller, but noticed the writing at top has designer credits and refers to New Designs. This was obviously a mint set sold back in 1953. The coins look nice, yet 65 years of burnishing have taken their toll and some of the obverses show some light rubbing and the coins are cloudy.
I am amazed they used plastic that far back, well 66 years has been unkind asnd the plastic is cracking on the sides and weakening and that is probably how the 6d fell out sometime in the past.
Still for $14 NZD a fascinating purchase.

Απόσπασμα: "sc.rednek"18th century, Ottoman Empire... Yes I realize it's not a coin...
It's surprisingly lighter than I thought it'd be from the pictures
Everything can become a coin if you pay an african mint enought so they punch a 1$ mark on it .

Finally got it today and its better than expected, looking at it, I would say its AU/Slider BU, it practically has no wear at all and lots of natural lustre. I spent $30 on a $100 coin basically and are happy.
It does have the usual dings and nicks, but according to Australian catalogue, these are normal on the Crowns due to coins being on conveyer belt and landing on each other in a bucket! (After all they were meant to be circulation pieces, so no gloves, mirror frosting or pulling out set pieces).
