Numista is not a place to talk politics and blah blah alot.
But nothing will save y'all from telling you Brits that you got lied to. Leaving the EU was as nincompoopy as something can be. And it doesn't take en Econ degree to know that.
However, a nice little coin to commemorate it will make me all nice and warm inside and even though I only collect circulating silver, I might just get one and pull it out to look at from time to time next time some populist offers us Canadians a nice dish of bull****.
Rant finished.
Can't wait to see the design.
I collect anything: If it's Italian or Italian states i collect it even more!
Agreed 200% with loruca there, but all I'll say is that I'm not sure why the nutters at The Sun are claiming it (the coin, not Brexit) as some kind of major personal victory? Very peculiar folks.

@Dan
Welcome to Numista!
It is very peculiar, there are a lot of politicians celebrating the coin too! :)

48% of the British voting public voted to remain in Europe, proving you can fool some of the people some of the time, but you can't fool all the people all of the time
people talking without speaking, people hearing without listening
I think it may be a bit to controversial; The coins may be vandalized or counter marked or something in protest. If they were to bring out a 2019 Brexit coin, how about the obverse depicts 'Team Remain' and the reverse depicts 'Team Leave'? That way, the government could toss the coin and see whether they are going to go through with this or not!

and 52% voted to leave your point is ????
we do not own our coins, we are merely guardians of them for future generations.

Point is we are not sheep that just follow the populist view, it was a close run decision, Loruca was making the point we where lied to, not everybody was fooled by the lie,
but we are a democracy and 52% wins the vote, it wont stop the 48% reminding you" if " the decision was wrong.
We live in a country where freedom of speech is king , long may it continue!

Haha...amusing conversation indeed. Nonetheless, I am interested in seeing this coin next year. I was actually in London the day of the Brexit vote, and I gotta say I've never seen the Brits so brash and loud voicing their opinions
The info that follows on from the brexit coin, is incorrect. it mentions the kew gardens as being the rarest 50p this is not true there are 2 more which have a lower mintage, one being from the larger size 50p the other did not go into circulation but is legal tender and a couple of year later reproduced as part of the olympic set.
Απόσπασμα: "COINMAN1"Tony,
Are you able to expand the exact coins that are rarer than the Kew Gardens. I would be very interested in that information.
The 2009 Olympic coin was never issued into circulation, whereas the Kew Gardens coin was.
It is great news however, as I have both of them.
Thanks for information.
There are two possible designs for the Brexit 50pence coin.
1. It will have a face value of €1 on one side & 50pence on the other.
2. It will have 50pence one side and nothing on the other. It comes with a free pack of felt tip pens, to create your own design, according to the memory you have of Brexit.
