What's the value of this US coin?
Is it rare, and does it have to be pure silver to be a real coin not an imitation?

Its a US Mercury Dime...
Not very rare at all... and it is not 100% silver. Its 90% silver...
It doesn't make it any less real :)

The value is really what someone is willing to buy it for... I wouldn't say anymore than $10 USD if your very very lucky... But it is not in that great of shape so maybe less...

It is a common date Mercury Dime. As Far as old coins go, This is one of the most common. It is likely worth only a bit above scrap value (I would say 10 USD at most)

It looks real, but real American coins from the era are .900 silver, not .999 ("pure").
