Your first coin

What was your first coin of your numismatic collection?
This one: Papal testone 1790 with St. Peter and Andrew. (Now it is in China with a sweet girl of Sichuan, who is Christian...)
And yours?

The first coin I can remember definitively buying for numismatic purposes, a humble little 1700 William III halfpenny. I'm actually not sure if it was that one or one of my George II halfpennies, but these coins were a cheap way to hold a part of the past 300+ years ago in your palm.

If we're talking about the first coin that came into my possession that I still have, it's probably one of the British and British colonial coins a relative who was a non-serious collector offloaded to my family, that I then took an interest in (this was about five years ago).
One of the Peace dollars in this photo:

These were all taken from circulation (mostly in California) between 1945 and 1957 or 1958. My parents gave me my first one (a peace dollar) sometime around 1955-1957. The last one we got from circulation (one of the Morgan dollars) was in late 1957 or early 1958 at the Louisville Kentucky airport -- that's the only one of these I actually saw in person when it was given in change.

Sorry for the poor picture quality z|

I remember I was so excited to see, "This coin is upside down! It must be an error!" and thought it could sell for a great price. See medal and coin rotation...
Mine was culled from change...

My first coin was a 1944 wheat cent.

found in the ground in our back yard digging for worms for fishing. This started my interest in coins. I was about 12 years old.
