"agong" on Malay coin names

3 αναρτήσεις
Several coins, but not all of them, of Malaysia have the term
AGONG
in their name (for example https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces1656.html has AGONG in the name whereas
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces23731.html
has not)

but for what I may know it is the name of the head of the state

Could some one help me to understand why?

I honestly wasn't able to decide between removing or adding the name for all the Malaysian coins, so I've just left it like that at least while I polish up Singapore's coin catalogue on Numista. I personally am in favour of removing the names, but owning to the ambiguous political status of the Agong in Malaysia, I haven't done anything as of yet. If anyone has further opinions I would be glad to hear them!
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong is the elected King of Malaysia - elected by & from among the monarchs from the peninsular part of Malaysia.

Have a read here; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yang_di-Pertuan_Agong .

The current Yang di-Pertuan Agong is Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan.

I don't think listing their names for the circulation coins is needed,as the designs don't change from one reign to the next.

Only for the commemorative coins commemorating their coronation as King of Malaysia is it required.

Aidan.
