I just received 2 Empress Elizabeth coins in the post today. I am certain the 25 Kopeks is fake as there is an obvious seam on the edge. I assume that this is a by-product of the casting process. Its such an obvious seam, there doesn't appear to have been any attempt to conceal it. What do you guys think? Is some sort of strange planchet error or (more likely) a bad fake?

The second coin is a 10 Kopeks coin. I have no reason to believe that it is a fake (but I'm a novice when it comes to spotting fakes) but it came from the same guy that sold the above coin so its worth getting checked out.

Thank you in advance.
Anyone?

Here you some examples. This is the original.
P.S. Your photo bottoms

I'm 99.997% sure that the larger coin is fake due to the edge seam. Unless it turns out to be some sort of strange planchet error. I'm not certain about the 10 kopecks.
They don't look fake.

What would cause the seam on the 25 Kopeks?
I've attached some more photos of the edge. Perhaps it is damage and not a casting seam. My only consolation is that it was extremely easy to spot (it was the first thing I noticed about it when it arrived), surely if it was fake then there would at least be an attempt to hide it?

Yes that's weird, but it certainly looks old and silver. So maybe a silver fake from that era or an error?
Check for magnetism and the weight.
I'll check the weight in the morning, I'll let you know how it goes.
I weighed both of the coins on Kitchen scales and got these results. These scales are not particularly accurate but I have ordered a set of scales that calculates the weight to one decimal place. They should arrive tomorrow, I'll post the results when they arrive.

10 Kopeks = 2g
25 Kopeks = 6g

Thanks everyone for your help.
The weight of the 10 Kopeck is 2.1 grams and the Numista page says that it should be 2.42 grams: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces24957.html

The weight of the 25 Kopecks is 6.1 to 6.2 grams (I'd assume its around 6.15 and the scales are just not accurate enough to pick it up). The coin does not have a Numista page but this example: https://www.numisbids.com/n.php?p=lot&sid=333&lot=250 weighs 6.26 grams.

I suppose wear would account for such discrepancies?
