Dear all,

UPDATE: Hope these pictures are better than before; I do not have a better camera than that here.

I have just received an ancient Roman coin. As i normally just collect circulating coins from 1900 onwards, i literally have no clue about ancient Roman coins. Here it is:

Weight: approx 3,5g
Size: approx 2,1 mm

It looks a lot like https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces64945.html or https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces55578.html

However, on my coin, there is a star on the right side of the standing soldier, which i cannot see on the two coins in the catalougue.

Any help is much appreciated.

Kind regards,
Stephan Thiele
Your coin is from the reign of Honorius, brother of Arcadius.
Then it gets interesting as far as the reverse is concerned, the star in right field is only found on coins from Heraclea as far as I am aware.
The mintmark should read SMHA or SMHB etc, I cant figure out what the 1st letter in the mark on your coin is representing as it certainly isn't an S.
I have done only a brief search and so far I have drawn a blank, because the mintmark isn't making any sense I will hold back from giving an opinion on it.
I deny nothing but doubt everything, opinions are made to be changed, how else is the truth to be gotten at.

At least post something useful Chomp & Petrus, 5 posts between you offering nothing in the way of help.
Use the basic info I posted and move it forward, anyone can post a link to wildwinds which in this case is useless as it isn't listed on there.

I asked him to verify if his link was really inefficient this time. I tried to check Wildwinds, CGB, Google... Nothing! I'm stuck with this coin.

Furthermore refreshing pics regularly is not useless as the pics have a strong erase bug since a few days. This is really annoying and not only for IDs.

Everyone who searches himself for information on coins will learn a lot about that coin, country, culture, politics.
And I can give no more information because I can not see the pictures z)
