Belgium 2 centimes 1911 Dutch large and small date

7 αναρτήσεις
Hello everybody,

I have got a problem to make the difference between the "large" and "small" date of this coin:

Bonjour à tous,
2 centimes - Albert Ier (dutch) 1911
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces496.html

I have checked several books and on internet but I can't find pictures which show the 2 types of date.

Is there please somebody who can help me on this? Thank you very much in advance!

Have a nice day
All 2 centimes belgium 1911 I found on eBay are similar

I'd qualify as "small" or "less wide" in comparison to the 1912 coin

hello french lover thank you for your answer!

i know that it exists pictures which compare the 2 types of varieties by unfortunatly i can't find them.
i saw the same topics on belgian coins forum but you can have the acces to the pictures because you have to be a membre.

i will keep searching because this thing is getting me crazy.
if someone find the answer, please share it
thank you in advance for your help;)
Hi Benjamin, according to this Belgian website the difference is in the distance between the two 1's (in stead of "large" and "small"):

1 = Smal - 0.6 mm
2 = Normal - 0.9 mm
3 = Wide - 1.2 mm

Of course, a difference of 0.3 or 0.6 mm is not easy to see.
There should be pictures on the site, but I don't see any. Maybe you have to register (free) and log in first to see the pictures.

The website is in Dutch, but I know you speak Dutch very well: http://www.cbnu.be/index.php?topic=1461.0

There is also someone who says the second 1 is higher than the first 1: http://www.cbnu.be/index.php?topic=181.0

And here is another website (in Dutch) with a big discussion about the may or may not existence of that variety, unfortunately again without visible pictures: http://www.muntstukken.be/forum/index.php/topic,7511.0.html
Maybe these are the websites you are talking about in your own post and you already have seen these, but I hope not of course. Anyway, there is a lot of doubt about the existence of this variety and so far no proof of it. Hopefully some of our members can provide pictures with a clear difference.

https://en.numista.com/echanges/liste.php?piece=496: Several members have a large date in their swaplist, others have a small date there. But no one has a large and a small date in their swaplist. So it might be just a matter of interpretation which check box you tick. If you don't have both it's difficult to know which one you have and that's how mistakes happen.
hello rené,

thank you very much for your full answer!

yes i was speaking about the forum you indicate in your first link.
it appears that they are giving a picture showing the difference between the 2 varieties.
i have tried to make a registration but i don't know why i don't receive a feedback.
so i'm not sure that this forum is still working ?

anyway i don't give up the research ;)
if i finally find the answer i will share it with pleasure

have a nice day
I also tried to log in all 3 different proposed languages, but the security letters you have to reproduce do NOT show up, so no registration! Strange....
