Due to a shortage of currency in 1929-33, two merchants issued their own coins as well; J.F. Kjølbro in Klaksvík and S.P. Petersens Eftf in Fuglafjørður. The Kjølbro issue is aluminium coins with denominations of 10, 25 and 50 øre, and 1, 2, 5, and 10 kroner. S.P. Petersens Eftf's issue was made of brass in denominations of 5, 10 and 25 øre, and 1, 2 and 5 kroner.
It looks like they were exchangable for Danish coins. That (at least in my eyes) makes them something better than a mere token.
I could easily create new token pages for Faroe Islands (Never in the token section, god forbids that) under Faroe island. Thing is, there is basically none information in English on the web, and I would be creating blank pages. So this is my plea for help, if there is anybody fluent in nordic languanges (Danish) especially, and feels as much as I that these shoul be listed under Faroe Islands, please try to search for some additional info.
Hi there!
I am the referee of the Faroe Islands, and must admit that I was surprised when this coin was added. I had never seen nor heard of it before, so I started digging. I found pics and some info of the whole set, 10 øre to 10 kroner (please note that it's kroner and not the Faroese krónur), but I couldn't find out if there were legal tender in all parts of the Faroe Islands, or if it just were circulating locally in Klaksvík.
The classification of token was added by the guy who added the coin to Numista, so I just let that be and added the additional info.
I will check the links you added and see if I can find some new info from there.

Nah, that makes them a perfect example of a currency token!
Well we should find the info. I'm sure there's someone who knows a lot about these tokens. Not me of course, I was aware that they existed but nothing more.
Απόσπασμα: "dptashny"Of course we should list all of them, under the main Faroe Islands section - but marked as "token".
Agreed!
Now we just have to find someone who owns them and can provide pictures. I hadn't heard of them before, and when I visited the Faroe Islands two years ago, I found a lot of history from the WWII and also about their coinage history, but these token coins were never spoken of. Therefore I am thinking that they might be issued locally in Klaksvík alone. I didn't find any info about it when I were in Klaksvík though, but I will keep researching.
I could probably create the pages for the coins though, but I doubt I will be able to provide pictures.
Απόσπασμα: "set68"Hi
In Sieg`s Møntkatalog Norden 2015 (Sieg`s Forlag ApS 2014),
These coins are listed as private coins.
4 Skilling and 16 Skilling (in use 1856-1875) by C.F. Siemsen, was also in use in his shop on Iceland.
Sven-Erik :)
I am glad this discussion forum is open...One of my friends said there are referece of these in Kraus Catalogue 28th Edition pp600/601/602. I do not possess this edition anyhow..so can somebody check and confirm. he posted me pictures of the pages, but not so clear..thanks and regards..
I have pics and information about all these coins now. All I'm lacking is weight and diameter on some of them.
What I don't have is the catalog reference for a known catalog. I the info of SIEG Møntkatalog Norden 2015, but this book diesn't have a known reference, so therefore I cannot add the pages yet.
But believe me, as soon as I got the reference confirmed I'm gonna add the pages.

Which book is the 28th edition?
If you still have the pics, could you pease send them to me through pm?
Thanks!
Απόσπασμα: "Jarcek"Oh, very nice!
I see you are still missing diameter/weight/thickness? I will have some time tommorow, so I will take a look for it if needed.
Cheers!
Yeah, please do. I have tried to get these facts, but so far I've ended up empty handed.
I search through the page but couldn't really find any useful information, bu I will take a better look at it tomorrow. I will also see if I can find any Danish or Faroese websites/documents about the coins (I can read (and understand) all the Nordic languages (excpet for Finnish) with some useful information.
Tomorrow I will also add the coins of S.P. Petersens Eftf in Fuglafjørður. I just have to crop he pics first.
Now I have also added S.P. Petersen's coins + two skilling coins of C. F. Siemsen.
The C. F. Siemsen coins will be added in the Icelandic catalog though, since that's where he issued the coins. They were, though, also legal tender at his store on the Faroe Islands.
Απόσπασμα: "Jarcek"Pure awesomness! And I thought this would be just a beep into the dark. It turned out great! Many thanks!
I'm glad your pleased, mate! When I'm in charge there's never a beep in the dark!
I will still try to get the missing weights and diameters. Any help will be highly appreciated!
