Απόσπασμα: "Quant.Geek"Picked up a few coins, but here are two "interesting" ones. I need to do something about the "graffiti" on the first one...
Poland: Kazimierz IV Jagiellończyk (1446-1492) AR Denar, Krakow (Kopicki-378)
Poland: John I Olbracht (1492-1501) AR Denar, Wschowa (Kopicki-385)
nice! Looks like first coin is from old museum ... I saw coins with numbers right on their surfaces, and all of them were from old private collection/ museums.

Usually you don't find them in this condition and hence it is a nice additional to my medieval Polish coin collection. You are correct in that it is probably from an old collection. I just need to remove that old catalog number with acetone...
Quite an accidental addition -- swung by the bank to get some pocket change (roll of dollar coins) and asked if they had any halves handy. As it turned out, they did - $4 worth, for which I handed over a $5 bill. She gave me back eight Kennedy halves... and a 1971D Ike dollar in really far better condition than one had any business expecting. :D

I finally found a 1935 dollar for a decent price. Such a classic
I also contracted a bad case of the stamp virus
No wonder stamp collecting is so popular - stamps are ridiculously cheap!! (and getting cheaper - all the stores in my city are dumping their inventories as fast as they can.) All of these were in an album I got for $10 - and this is just a small fraction of the stamps inside that thing (although most of the others are more modern). Considering how much British Empire coins cost, it is a real thrill to grab two things featuring Queen Victoria for much less than a dollar each.
1st pack: French Afars & Issas 100F 1975 ; Belgian Congo & Ruanda-Urundi 5F 1958
2nd pack: British India (Bengal) 1/8 Anna 1195 (1781) ; Ionian Islands 1 Obol 1819 ; German States (Mecklemburg-Schwerin) 2 Schilling 1777 (unregistered) ; South African Boer Republics (Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek) 1 Shilling 1894 ; St Helena & Ascension Island Brilliant Uncirculated 1984 coin set ; and 2 coins to ID (told to be from Ancient Greece & Mongol Empire)

I bought a couple of cheaper banknotes and two more expensive coins ... I think those are the last additions to my collection this year unless I can get something interesting for real cheap
Phil swapped me a long while back and included a 1970 proof set for me. It didn't have the cover but until recently I wasn't bothered but last week I decided it was time to purchase one. 99p + free p&p it was money well spent and even came with the little info booklet !
And for anyone interested I photographed my x3 regency issue wolfenbuttel 24 mariengroschen together. There are slight differences to each variety, and although thale slab ones are higher grades, the raw one is still my favourite. The prince regent legend does it for me XD.

Neil, and everyone who gets a good deal, l would love to see what you guys ate paying for this stuff in your part of the world. Neil, do you mind sharing the price on the canada dollar and barber quarter. Also that blacksmith stamp is very nice!
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

The 1935 dollar was CAD$25 (which is only USD$18.90 because of our abysmal exchange rate). However, it's a bit cleaned.
My barber quarter was NZ$77, which is about US$48. It's about half its catalogue value. It catalogues at about US$96 in VF. But that one was an upgrade so I'll get some of it back from selling my current quarter which is in F condition.

This weekend I tried going to an annual local "coin show" arranged by the local coin club and stamp club in unison. 4 coin dealers and 5-6 stamp dealers scattered around a small room. Never been to one of these things before, so it was quite fun to go around browsing coins. Could have spent a lot more than I did, but I managed to restrict myself to a couple of low cost purchases.
These three were in a "3 for 20 kr. ($3)" box:
Picked them out mostly because of their age and I didn't have any 20 markka coins in my collection.
Moving on, there was a "1 kr ($0,15) each" box, and I picked a few out of that:
Don't have too many Kenyan coins, so found a couple of those, the other two I just liked more than the other stuff in the box. I also picked out 11 wheat cents, because I like them and I knew I only had 3-4 of them in my collection. One of the ones I came home with I had already, but 10 new wheat cents to put in was alright.
Last but not least one of the dealers had a few Morgan dollars on display. I absolutely love Morgans, and only have 6 in my collection. Aside from a bunch of fakes he only had 1921 Morgans though, but as I didn't have the 1921-S, I picked out the nicest of the ones he had. Paid 175 kr. ($26,50) for it.
Afterwards I found an email address for someone in the coin club, and I have been corresponding with him today about possibly becoming a member. All in all an enjoyable day, and the first time I've actually bought coins "face to face" :-)
And another one.
This coin was found when I was sorting out my German Notgeld coins, so I think I have had it for a while, but now has come to light. It seems to be a rare coin.
German States Ebersdorf 4 Pfennig 1812

Gosh, some veeeery interesting coins, but I just love the 32 Skilling 1853 note above, being as I have a penchant for Swedish history. Can't make out the signature at the top of the note though.
This is my star find for September. Bog standard 2 Franc. Had it sitting around for months, but then recently noticed that 1978 was an unusual date for it. It's 'essais'. 6000 minted I think.

Later this week I should receive these two beauties:
Hungary 10 forint 1848
Denmark 12 skilling 1809
I just love 19th century banknotes, there's just something about them that can't be felt about coins
Well, I'm really a coin person, but I do find these older banknotes fascinating. It's amazing how they survive. They are a small snapshot in time. Thanks for sharing those.

Just received these little copper coins from Lorraine (I don't consider really them from Lorraine as the Duchy of Lorraine was not the issuing authority but the City of Metz, which was separate from the Duchy unlike now). 1 of them is unregistered yet but look a little like the 3 others which are quarter sols.
Only one of them is registered as the minting year clearly identified and already registered. The 2 others will follow later. The unregistered one is a kind of variety but undated and bearing the same legend in both faces (Moneta Metensis).
My hometown makes me finding my 224th country.
EDIT: finally identified the 2 remaining minting years including a new one to register

Going to be spending some evenings going over about 125 Japanese and Chinese cash coins! All of them have be pre-identified and weeded out for fakes by a well-known expert in Cash Coins. So, most of the work is done. I am going to start taking pictures, albeit slowly as time permits. Here is one of the coins from the lot:

I have not bought much recently, last time on here was 20th August. Since then I got these ...
'A collection of 3 German States pre-1900 coins Baden Schwerin Sachsen'
'British (UK) - 1902 Low Tide Edward VII One Penny Coin'
'Netherlands -1827B One Cent Coin KM# 47'
'Netherlands -1828 (Plain) One Cent Coin KM# 47'
London 2012 Olympic coins - from separate sellers
Bought for the rotation errors
'10 x Banknotes from Belarus. 25, 10, 5, 3 & 1 Ruble. 2 of each, all dated 1992'
I don't really collect banknotes but these are nice!
'Four different 19th century copper Tokens x 4'
'Four different 18th century Conder Tokens x 4'
Those last two lots are very nice, and each token only cost just over £1 each.
I found six of them on here, and the other two *(number 2 and 8 below) I have now added them.

I love the porcelain tokens!! How much did they cost you?
Just completed my Canadian 1 Cent collection by Date. Feeling pretty smug right now. 1858 thru 2012.
Now on to the next goal. Improving every 1 Cent to VF or better and as many varieties as possible (excluding errors). My quick estimate is about 100 coins to go. I'll math it out to see how much I expect to pay and budget from there.
I'm pretty sure I will have to win a lottery to get the 1936 Dot (Last sale was 2010, PCGS SP-66, $402,500 usd).
But (to quote a song from South Pacific) " if you don't have a dream, how are you going to make a dream come true?".

Palestine 2 Mils 1927
Réunion 2 francs 1969 (notable as XF)
Sarawak 1 cent 1888

Thats cool! nice additions.

Got close to 70 coins in September, mostly common, easy-to-find types, so no point listing them all here. A few worth mentioning:
- Belgium 50 Francs (dutch text) 1954 Unc - nice, large silver coin
- Canada 5 Dollars 2015 - Horned Owl silver oz, which concludes the Birds of Prey series
- Japan 500 Yen 1985 XF - Tsukuba Expo (circ. commem.) - oh, hey, I've recently learned Hiragana, so now I can show it off by writing that as つくば Expo :)
- New Zealand 6 Pence 1935 XF
- Palestine 5 Mils 1935 and 10 Mils 1939, both XF
- Peru 1/2 and 1 Dinero 1912, both Unc - attractive design and a pretty impressive level of detail for such tiny coins
- Russia, empire 5 Kopecks 1890АГ Unc - another tiny silver from mother-Russia :)
