That's about right, 1873 and earlier is when the price gets serious.

Thanks, I am trying to taky my collection more like an investment. - Without buying those new gold and silver coins.

The price is okay. Both coins are very common and available in good grades (XF and better).

In the German Coin Catalog they are listed with:
  • 6 € for the 1 Pfennig 1874
  • 3 € for the 2 Pfennig 1912

If you need some help with your German collection, just tell me. I'll try to help.

To be honest, those coins are not an investment, but much more interesting than the boring new gold and silver coins.
I decided to collect coins from 1800 to the early 1930's.
The new coins are for commerce only.

I never thought about single coin as an investment, sets of those, or whole collections gather the price up.
