Logic of web address for the coins

8 αναρτήσεις
Hi,
can anyone tell the logic of the web address for the individual coins?

e.g.
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6794.html
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces6437.html

What is 6794 or 6437. Is there any logic?
In this case it is 2 coins from Brasil (KM 575 and 576).

Could this logic be replicated for an outstanding person?

Reason is, that I would link my coin collection in Excel to the site of the coins, but without the logic it is impossible.

Thanks
Chris
It's just the order they were entered into the Numista database.  There's currently 53,364 coins in the database, so If you entered in a new one now it's address would be https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces53365.html
The catalogue number of each coin can be read from the URL of the page. This makes referring to a Numista page from e.g. Excel fairly easy. Just put the catalogue number in one cell and build the link in another cell, like this:
=HYPERLINK("ht tp://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces" & A1 & ".html";"View")

In this example, the catalogue number is in cell A1, and the clickable text displayed in the cell is "View".

You can't refer to a specific line on the coin page. That you can do for NGC, but for NGC you need to build a url with two ID-s (category and coin ID).
Yes - as the coin pages on here are created by members, there is no order to what coins are added or when. It is not like an official site where all the background work is done before the site is created - pages are added on here all the time. This site started in 2007 so even if all pages for all coins from the beginning of time up to 2007 were created (by the site creator), there would be in 2008 new pages needed (and added by members this time), which would start to disturb the number sequence. So 2014 coins for example will be added to all modern countries as and when (either new pages or dates to existing pages).

That is the very first coin entered on here (France 1 Centime 1959-2001) and so on ...
Which as this is originally a French site is understandable.  :)

I enter my own information in my spreadsheet and then hyperlink to the relevant Numista page and the NGC page for the values.  It looks like this

Nice. With regard to the catalog value, is that generated, or is it a manual entry from the data on the NGC page?

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
Manually entered.  I keep the link so if I upgrade the coin it's easy to look up the value of the new grade
Thanks Neil.
