Advice please?

Hi Guys,

Do you think that this coin has been cleaned?

Only kidding.  :P

After a lot of searching I reckon it's this https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces16762.html
Anyone (dis)agree?

Also, the main reason for this post, what would be your advice on cleaning this? I know there's not a lot of detail left on the coin, and all the crud on it seems to be solid. So would sonic cleaning help? Would I lose any detail from it?

After all, the only reason I can read the writing on it is because of the black on it, so I'm worried that if I remove it, what I'll be left with is a blank silver disk. Any advice?

I'm not an expert in any kind of coins, but I reckon I'm good at research and will do my best to help. Feel free to tell me my identifications/valuations/gradings are wrong. It's the only way I'll learn.
This is never ever silver. If it was mine I'd throw it away. This coin or token is dead. RIP

I agree this looks copper, I would put it in my copper scrap bucket, or do some art with it, holed coins are nice because can go tie it up somewhere random. Or like nalaberong go nail it to someone's house or whatever. See here, https://en.numista.com/forum/topic30158.html
Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins
Yes, you're probably right. It's the correct size, but a couple of grams light, which I put down to it being holed and very worn.

The colour's not too good on the photo, in hand it looks more brass than copper, but I just thought the yellowness was due to the crust that's on it.

If the majority of people are of the opinion that it's not silver and just a dead token, then maybe I could try cleaning it? I reckon electrolysis would remove the crust.

Definitely a brass forgery. Interestingly, they used to be silver plated.

It's a very worn version of this.
