Sorry - no.
Firstly, as written above, the crown shape is wrong.
Secondly, I have seen a picture of an 1872 coin and there is no line at the base of the 7 number - so it is like I type here 7 with just a pointed base. The NGC link shows an 1842 date coin, and that page has an image showing the line at the base of the 4 number (unlike 4 as it is typed here). Your new pictures confirm the 'underlined' third digit. As in underlined like the 1 in the date on your coin is.
I found a better picture of a coin from the 1870's, so here is 1871 to show the 7 number the mint used ...
Notice also the angle where the arms of the top of the crown join the central vertical part: on the 1871 coin shown they are at right angles, whereas on your coin they dip down slightly when joining it.
I used part of your new image and put small dots around parts of the date I could see ...

So I am convinced it is 1842 not 1872, but is probably easier to see when in hand.
