1988 Charles De Gaulle franc

it says this coin marks the 30th anniversary of the death of Charles de Gaulle, but he died in 1970.  What gives?

I wondered about that as well - I read he died on November 9th 1970 just two weeks before he was 80
In 1958 he was re-elected as Prime Minister so that is probably what the 1988 coin is 30 years for. In 1944 has was in exile as government head, and became Prime Minister of the French Provisional Government after World War II but resigned two years later. Hope all that is right  

I have one of these coins too. I thought it was super rare into I saw how many they made. Oh well, my collection is small at the moment so each coin is special to me.

CdG became prime minister in 1958 and founded the 5th Republic. 1958-1988 commemorates the 30 years of the 5th repiblic!
