What’s your favourite coin and why?

Hello I don’t know if this has been posted recently but I was interested what everyone’s favourite coin was and why.

Outside of my collection it’s this one:

But in my collection I can’t really choose a favourite, a mix of these I would say:

N#369686 (a really early one in my collection)

N#55953 (Who doesn’t love japanese coins!)

N#10919 (gift from great grandmother when I was younger)

N#11413 (best designs in my collection)

N#22418 (best tone in my collection)

Please forgive my indecisiveness, I just love them all so much!

Thanks! Personally I believe your collection also looks very good, you seem to be focusing more on an objective than me. I usually just get coins that make me happy, and if you’re doing the same then your collection is just as good as mine! 😁

Thats what I do too I mostly collect medievals and ancients but you have an awesome collection too.

My vote is the Maria Theresa thaler, because it's a great design and was minted continuously from 1780 until a couple of years ago. (I'm not sure of this)

And because so many different mints were involved, there are a lot of varieties, and identification can be challenging.

This one, I've narrowed down to Hafner 63-6. I'm leaning towards one of the Indian mints, but can't verify yet. This coin forces one to do some serious digging, and for me, is perhaps the most rewarding.

Oh, a tough question, that it is.

Given the amount of coins I've got in these years, it's difficult to choose only one.

What it should be: The coin I've found in the school yard (50 yen); the first old coin I bought (100 réis 1901); my first roman, my first silver (5000 réis “Santos Dumont”); my first gold (a small portuguese 400 réis); that worn roman bronze with Julius Caesar's face on it; that Pontius Pilate coin; that Athenian owl (not silver but bronze); my first ceitil from the 1500's…

…And many nice coins between all of these that are worth considering or at least getting an honorable mention.

Since I got it as a small kid, that's the one I would choose to put in Uncle Scrooge's dome.

Mine is a 1907 Barber quarter that I found in change as it really started my collection
