Is there someone who can read/write Arabic who can help with adding the lettering and translation for the coins discussed below?
And does anyone have images of a 1320 London minted coin for comparison? It would also be nice to have images of a 1320 Paris coin for comparison.
Recently I bought a 5 Dirham of the year 1320. It was sold as ‘minted by London Mint’, yet the lettering on the coin matches the coin listed under ‘Berlin mint’.
There are 3 very similar types:
1320 Berlin: N#156579 (with a picture of a 1320 coin)
1320-1321 London: N#156578 (with a picture of a 1321 coin)
1321-1323 Paris: N#8399 (with a picture of a 1322 coin)
The lettering on these coins is different below the dates. Also I found another minor difference between de Berlin and London coins as presented, upright on the reverse there is a little crescent with dot on the 1320 Berlin coin that does not appear on the 1321 London coin. (Mine has the crescent)
For the lettering on these coins on both sides is just states ‘script: Arabic’.
There is a lot of work to be done on other Moroccan coins of this era as well when it comes to lettering and translation.
I also noticed something interesting about the edge, but I don't need any help on that. That is why I took the following picture.
