1/4 Dollar vs 0.25 Cents

I am having a strange time trying to figure out what the difference is between ¼ dollar = 25 Cents and 25 cents. When to chose one and when to chose the other? About half of the coins in my collection are listed at 25 cents while the other half is listed as ¼ dollar. when I go to export, it throws half into one collection and the other half into a new collection category.  Any insight on this?

Are you asking about just US coins or all 25-cent coins?

Either way, I understand your frustration.

The designation on US coins had been “quarter dollar” for 100+ years, but reverted to “25 cents” on recent designs (from 2022 or 2023, I forget which but it's in the numista catalog). Other countries, like Canada, always used the “25 cents” designation. So depending on your collection, both are correct.

Could also be human error when users created or edited the pages. Post links if you think any are wrong.

The coin pages' titles should be whatever is on the coin. Compare these two from 2023:

N#349991

N#349993

The value in the Features box should always be:  ¼ Dollar = 25 Cents (¼ USD) regardless such as N#30778 but that's not always the case like the 25 Cents coin above.
