Hi

I believe if elongated coins that are made at the same place, same rolling machine, should have links among links section and not in comment section. Hence I believe these rules could be updated accordingly https://en.numista.com/help/links-134.html

The issue arose when adding these 4 pieces:

N#484150

N#484055

N#486019

N#322813

LP

These objects do not comply with any rule of the guidelines (just like objects in a series or set, they are not written in the links field). However, they have something in common (they are made by the same machine), which is why I wrote them in the comments field.

But the guidelines can be adapted…

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

I found these elongated coins here: https://www.elongando.cat/PATRON.html?q=Tenerife (references TF-020-1 to TF-020-4)

Some questions:

  1. https://www.elongando.cat/ is an online catalogue of Spanish elongated coins. The objects have a reference numbers. Could it be added in Numista as reference catalogue? Other elongated coins from the Numista catalogue are also referenced here.
  2. About the four elongated coins of the main subject:
    • They are created on a roller machine owned by Prensacar Tokens https://www.prensacar.es/ Could it be the mint?
    • The machine is in the La Casa de los Balcones souvenir shop at the Teide Cableway. Could it be the issuing entity?
    • The same for each elongated coin in Numista referenced here.
  3. If we create the issuing entity and mint with these objects, they are grouped together. Maybe the series is not necessary.

What does the elongated coin referee, @Danthann , think about this?

Referee for Spain, Iberia (ancient), Suebi Kingdom and Visigothic Kingdom

Could be, but is probably not advisable, as the number (usually 1, 2, 3 or 4) and planchet types are subject to change.

I am sorry. I forgot.

I agree these 4 elongated coins could be grouped via a series. They form a group of 4 items issued together at the same occasion.

I'm not familiar with this website. If it is really considered as a reference for Spanish elongated coins, we can add it.
Unfortunately they don't offer a direct link for each item based on the number.

Prensacar is the issuing entity. There is no mint.

I believe it would be kind of a hard to define a proper name of such series.

Why?

The website linked by davidhs gives some names, which are good names in my opinion.
In this case, it could be “Teleférico del Teide elongated coins”. And a short description could help lifting any ambiguity.

Prensacar is the issuing entity. There is no mint.

I found it here: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/issuing_entity.php?id=4257

I will look for more information.

I did not know this catalogue either. I found it a few months ago looking for information about other elongated coin, but I do not collect this type of medals. I suggested add it as reference catalogue because of have reference numbers and useful data (years of issue, issuing entity, place of sale…).

I found these reference catalogues in Numista with elongated coins
https://en.numista.com/literature/volume.php?id=2308

https://en.numista.com/literature/volume.php?id=2329

https://en.numista.com/literature/volume.php?id=2254

but they are books from a few years ago, with no online version, and the coins of the subject are more recent.

The most of the reference catalogues in Numista are printed, but we have 59 catalogues exclusively online.

What do the other referees think, especially the referee of elongated coins?

This series has four objects. If more are added later, they will be added to the series. I do not see any problem with that.

I think a series with these objects might look good. https://www.elongando.cat/ give enough information. I can do it for test.

Makes sense. Maybe the name of such series should always include the place or a landmark where the machine is available or installed and the word “elongated”.

I added the Prensacar Tokens issuing entity to the pages, and found information to add it. https://en.numista.com/forum/topic167548.html

Also, I added the series https://en.numista.com/catalogue/series.php?id=11443 and I will add a description, soon.
