Can anyone please help me identify the value of this coin I found today in a small collection I have had for years.

It is a 1967 German Pfenning and it is non metallic (not attracted to magnet) it has the “J” stamp.showing it was made in Hamburg. Thank you for any valuation and please let me know if I can provide any more information.

Hello,

This is a very common coin, and although it is made of bronze, its value does not exceed around ten centimes.

And ore than 26 million copies minted !

From what I read there were only 1500 copper not bronze coins made in 1967 marked with a J but over 26 million that year stamped J that were copper clad over steel?

No. There were over 26 million bronze ones and no copper clad ones.

Maybe you're thinking of the 1967 J bronze Proof coins?

Yes perhaps the bronze proof is what I have? How would I know?

Thank you

Your coin doesn't look like a proof. A proof would look like this:

Proof coin were released at a significant higher price for collectors and not intended for circulation.

Lets say that 5% of these coins were put on circulation by ignorants later on.

Then 60% of these very shiny pieces were immediately put back into collections due to their exceptional quality.

This leads to one in a million chance that your coin is an old proof.
We get a better chance of winning the EuroMillions :)
