Hello everyone,
I´m trying to identify an old coin, possibly copper or bronze, which is very worn and oxidized. Here are the details I was able to observe:
Diameter: 26,04mm
Weight: around 6g
Thickness: less than 2mm
Color: greenish (copper corrosio)
Shape: round and regular, no visible clipping
Observe: only a bare-headed bust facing right is visibl, with a clearly marked bear. No hair, no inscription, no border or circle. The head fills almost the entire surface.
Reverse: completely smooth due to corrosion; no visible design or inscription, but signs of metal overflow or lumps, like melted areas.
I suspect it might be a striking error, a misstruck flan, or perhaps an unofficial token or test strike bearing the likeness of Napoleon III.
Has anyone seen a coin like this before, with only the head and no inscriptions?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance
