Puzzle again - same coin with 2 KM# numbers? [επιλυμένο]

Hi all, not sure if this is common or not? I have a coin that is listed under 2 different KM#'s. I've spent forever to proove one or the other but both KM#'s seem to apply equally and i can't split them.

1. First of all is my coin pic is in .Jpg.

2. RAW files looks a mile better, but good enought for what we need to do…

3. For my coin below, 1 Aussie Sovereign, weight is on point with Numista, thickness is on point, all the letters and numbering is the same as the 2 examples i will show from the Numista Catelogue with 2 different KM# numbers. Even the ‘prices’ per grade on both Numista examples.

Any ideas??

The Australian ones have a very settle M, S or P mintmark at the hoof of the horse, just over the date. The UK ones doesn't have anything there.

It is mentioned in the Comment part of the coin page too: “Note: for strikes without mintmark below horse's right rear hoof, see United Kingdom issues”

That seems to be the go-to place to hide the mintmarks. Later sovereigns (like the ones of George V) have a bunch of other mints too (Pretoria, Ottawa, Bombay) and all put ther marks there. If the spot is empty then it's minted in the UK.

Good morning - thankyou for replying! Yes understood, but the other  coin also says

"Mints

M

Royal Mint, Melbourne, Australia (1872-1969)

P

Perth Mint, Australia (1899-date)

S

Royal Mint, Sydney, Australia (1855-1926)

Note: for strikes without mintmark below horse's right rear hoof, see United Kingdom issues

Then which further complicates thing as it's all the same writing/ mintage comments: Also remomber BOTH coins have the

"Comments

Note: for strikes without mintmark below horse's right rear hoof, see United Kingdom issues goes onto the list of Sovereigns that contain the mint mark M, S, P…. both of them do?

So they are still all exactly the same???

It's not very complicated at all, coins without mintmark are under the UK and the coins with S, M or P are under Australia with cross references to each other in the case you are on the wrong coin page for very similar items (especially if they are under different issuers).

Thankyou all, solved.
