Hi

I have written about some of this before, but cannot locate the thread. Anyway, It would be prudent to have a chance to search the database also within the data in “Source of the picture” field. Currently there is no way of doing this.

Another thing is that in case picture is added, “Source of the picture” field should be mandatory. There are many pages missing this data.

For instance - this piece N#59011 the copyright of Reverse goes to “franzjosefmuseum.de”. There is either a user under this name, nor there is a partner under this name who shared their pictures with Numista.

Subordinate to the writing above, maybe such search could be listed as a separate search type here (for the brass to decide):

Also I would suggest, that in case when picture copyright goes to the user (selection “I made the picture myself”), the link to the users Numista Profile page should be automatically added.

Same as with partners (see here https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia447816.html). This could be updated automatically since the data clearly is available.

When there is no data or the data does not correspond to the partner organization or to the Numista user, this smells trouble and should be added as a possible faulty/missing data on page:

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/corrections/index.php

This way referees can search for a picture with proper copyrights or users with this piece in their possession could upload their own picture. Currently only small or missing pictures are asked for.

This may also be a job for the Numista Robot.

Hi

I have been privately warned over more such cases.

CGI pictures should never have a copyright other then the mint or department of finance anyway (for "real" coins at least).

Münze Deutschland allows use of pictures on their web site without permission for non-commercial use much like the US Mint.  Neither should have to be listed as approved sources.

When I tried to use CC BY NC image, referee asked to get source as authorized source. Maybe educate your referees, when listing in https://en.numista.com/info.php#picture_source_list_info is not required.

When I asked about the US Mint:
