I have began my ancient coin journey but at the moment can only afford “budget coins.” I don’t really mind much as it still makes it awesome to hold history. I have gotten some guesses in Reddit but I wanted to get a second opinion. Also the seller says they are authentic and are cheap due to them not meeting certain standards to be sold in any other format. Not to potentially throw shade on them but they are called Ryan’s Coins and was just wondering if anyone had any insight on their credibility. this was on EBay btw which I know is not a great place to buy coins at.

Possible Maximian?  it weighed in at 2.1g and is 2cm
Back of possible maximIan which is in better condition. what causes this drastic change between the two faces?
I’ve learned from one source that is most likely Constantius I quarter Follis Concordia Militum. It weighed in at 1.6g  and is also 2cm
i assume this is why they were so cheap because one side of each coin was in terrible shape.

Welcome to your ancient coin journey! ☺️

1) N#416436

2) An antoninianus of Constantine the Great as Caesar FL VAL CONSTANTIVS NOB CAES, reverse two figures holding Victory. The reverse is in rough shape and I can't read the mint.

In my opinion these coins are worth max 5$ but even then I suggest not buying them. You can get a better example for around 10-15$ and you can get a really nice example for around 30$. The coins are authentic so you don't have to worry about that.

I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.

I appreciate you making time to respond!

They are in terrible shape I know but I’m sure the experience will only come with greater coins in the future!

Just a quick question, for the first one which I thought was Maximian.. what about tells you otherwise? I see that on the reverse mine has a KA (which I assume is the mint? and would love to know more of about it if you have information.) I hope It doesn’t come off as rude I would just really like knowing about how identify coins on my own and hopefully be as cool as you one day hehe.

Again thank you so much for your insight!!

edit: I see now that it very well could be an H sorry for my ignorance! in some angles it looks like a K

Yes, the emperor is Maximian, Maximianus is just his roman name. And you are correct again, the mint is written on the reverse. Other than that some tipd on how to identify these are the radiate crown on the obverse portrait making the denomination an antoninianus and the obverse legend where the emperors name is written.
