N#45048 Costa Rica 20 Colones Italcambio Mint ? [επιλυμένο]

OK.  Since I can't find Italcambio Mint in the List of Mints section, I gotta ask:

What is/was the Italcambio Mint ?  It is referenced with the Pakistan 100 Rupees 1976, 1977 coins also.  Looking for a clarification.

Is it an issuing authority only ?   Did they require sub-contracted mints to place IC on the coins ?   Is Italcambio and Caracas Mint the same ?

You can see on the coin the mint mark “1 AR”. That's the mint mark for Numismatica Italiana (Arezzo) Mint (which is on the list for mints).

It's always easy when you put a link to the coins, otherwise everybody has to search for the particular coins.

I'll going to take a look but I'm pretty sure it's CHI, and that's the mint mark for Valcambi S.A., Balerna, Switzerland.

Hahaha, I'd better looked it up first. It's indeed IC, not CHI. I see what I can find.

Okay, I wasn't completely wrong. A lot of the Haiti coins in the 70's were struck with the CHI mint mark from Valcambi.

But the 1967 coins were indeed struck with the IC mint mark. IC stands for Italcambio, Metalor Acuñaciones C.A., Caracas.

I think Italcambio should be added to the list. It's not the same mint as Caracas Mint, who already struck coins in the 1800's while Metalor Acuñaciones C.A., Caracas only exists about 70 years (according to this website: https://infoguia.com/is.asp?emp=metalor-acunaciones-caracas&clte=93049702&ciud=41
