I think you have wrong image for the coin Number N# 4078, References Y# 329.1, Schön# 279

 N#4078

due to non-magnetic coin are coming from Leningrad Mint. The easiest way to recognize Leningrad Mint for that Coin is number 3 has round top and flat had Moscow Mint that is magnetic. So I assume that for the image for the coin Number N# 4078, References Y# 329.1, Schön# 279 should be with the round top of the number3 in years. See the difference.

So basically you're saying all the non-magnetic coins are from Leningrad Mint and all the magnetic coins are from Moscow Mint? So not only the image is wrong but the entire year line with Moscow Mint is wrong and should be deleted? So Krause is wrong (there are a lot of mistakes in Krause so it might be true) but also hundreds of Numista members claim to have the Moscow Mint non-magnetic coin. Hard to believe they all are wrong too.

I'm sorry, but the mint mark, the only thing really deciding where the coin was minted, is from the Moscow mint.

I wish you a very nice day, dear colleagues.

    Both coins are non-magnetic.

And yes, the number "3" is different for mints.

These days, I may not see this coin with pleasure, but for the benefit of numismatics, I photographed them.

I repeat: both coins are non-magnetic, and as for the number "3", it is exactly the opposite from the mints as you claim.    Or am I wrong?

The claim of the OP:

Flat top 3 = Moscow

Round top 3 = Leningrad

Your pictures support the OP's claim about the mints and shape of the 3:

And there's this from the magnetic coin page from Ole:

It's exactly as he said: round top for Leningrad Mint, flat top for Moscow Mint.

He also said all Leningrad Mint coins are non-magnetic and all Moscow Mint coins are magnetic and of course that's not correct.

The edge will tell the story.

Yes Leningrad has a round top.

MIMAEL

Yes Leningrad has a round top.

Can you post edge pictures of these two coins?

Leningrad has edge damage across the center.

Thanks. Obvious visual proof that both mints made the non-magnetic, segmented edge coins. I think we're done here.

I wasn't sure of my statement, that was a reason to write: “I think you have wrong image…” but I have both coins from Moscow and Leningrad mints. As you can see edges not as you stated, and magnetic Moscow mint  and Leningrad Mint is non-magnetic.

So you have 2 of the 4 different variants and your conclusion is/was the other 2 don't exist?

Here's the list of the Numista members who have the non-magnetic coin version of both Leningrad and Moscow Mint in their swap list. Look how extensive that list is and that's even without all the members who have the coin(s) but not on their swap list.

Enter the weight for that magnetic coin.  Could this be a fake?  Weight can't.  sit if the coin is magnetic.  Also, a smooth edge could indicate a fake.

Please examine the pages for these two 1993 coins (or just look at the titles). That's why I asked to see the edge of your two coins.

N#4078 Composition  Aluminium bronze

N#16501 Composition Brass clad steel

Guess we weren't done. Now?

Oh, I didn't know that, I don't have the steel one.  Now I get it.  Thanks.
