The Numista search is wonderfully helpful in finding items. You get the same results from “two” and “2”, and from accented and non-accented characters so you don't need to precisely mimic the entry to find an item.

But when I'm trying to clean up Numista I would like to be able to specify “search for exactly what I type”.

My current issue: The last character in the reverse lettering of N#319308 is not “A” but “Aั” – “A" followed by the Thai vowel sign Mai Han-Akat. I have seen this in several other entries and I would like to search for “Aั” to clean up all entries.

But searches for “Aั” finds every use of A, and filtering for “Aั” in Lettering produces no results (even though I know it is used).

Adding a mechanism for “search exactly” would make it easier to find things to clean up.

I think what you want already exists. Use quotations and wild card (*).

Thanks, I guess I didn't try enough.

But that only works in lettering. For a general search the strings that work in lettering either produce every coin or nothing.

OK, how can I search for “dénomination”? I found it in one page (and submitted a change request). I would like to find other pages with this misspelling and fix them.

These searches find too many coins:

This search doesn't find any coins (and should find at least one):

I don't believe it's possible.  é and e are considered equal.   dénomination is the French, denomination is the English.  Whenever é is used on the English site e is substituted.  When searching dénomination on the French site there are only 4701 hits, the same as searching denomination.

é is ascii 130, e is ascii 101  A search for é will always return é or e.

Aั is different as there is no ascii code for it so substituting ascii 65 (A) is not done.
