Hello,

sorting through my pocket change I noticed a difference between two 2006 coins (N#1715):

on one of them top of the letters is rounded while on the second one it is flat. And no - it's not due to wear.

Not so easy to see on my photos, but still (especially on the date).

Is this, what we have to understand?

Die wear?

Die wear?

Definitely not - too uniform and other parts of the coin are not affected.

Exactly

I cannot really see anything, maybe because of shadow/bad quality photo.

I showed these pictures to my wife and she immediately detected the difference!

Yeah, that is nice. If anyone is able to point it on a picture, it would be nice.

sorry, I'm not that guy that likes to search small differences in circulating coins, for me they are the same

Same, sorry I am not of more help….

I don't see the difference on the text. On the date I can see a very very small difference. I'm a variant collector myself, but this isn't enough for me. Maybe I can see it better with the coins in hand, but for now it's a no for me.

I don't see a big difference between them. Very small difference. Do we know if more then one mint made them. It could be from two different mints.

It is, what it is, or is it.

If it is the SURFACE of the digits which are rounded versus flat, then yes, perhaps there is a visible difference in the first set of photos, though I agree with Jarcek that there is also a difference in the lightingand/or focus quality that makes the comparison difficult (of course a rounded surface, or a higher relief would resist an even focus).

If it were die wear, I think we would expect thicker letters to be more rounded, but what we see in the first set of photos is the opposite, the slightly thicker letters are the ones with the flat surface.

I agree with asrsen that if there is a difference, it is very small.

How “big” a difference should be to be recorded in the catalogue?

I've seen coins with much smaller differences being entered here. In any case, how expensive it is to add a line in the catalogue?!

It's NOT the costs, but the difficulty to recognize the two versions, when you only have one of the coins in your hand…. Whenever a coin ends up in the wrong year line, a swap is going to go wrong, except if your partner also had it wrong….. That's a good reason to avoid to make year lines for not measurable differences.

It doesn't have to be a new yearline or “number”. A note would be enough and each of us can decide whether to relate to it or not.

Over and out.

You can add a comment in the comments section in my opinion, and in the year line you just add a “;see comments”.

I have inspected several 10 agorot coins, and confirm that difference exists. It is not so large, but clearly distinguished, if looking at the date. I'll try to prepare good photos.
