Hi! Can you help me identify this coin and with an evaluation? I found one today with the metal detector

Trajan Sestertius

N#253609

Size and weight please to make sure it actually is a sestertius. It seems so from the photos but just to be sure. Now, as for value. The coin will have to be cleaned (don't do this yourself) and it seems to be damaged between 1 and 3 o'clock but the coins details are from what I can tell from the photos high. Especially the portrait which is the most important part.

The coin will have to be sold in an auction setting by a reputable auction house with a declaration of authenticity. You can forget about trying to sell it over ebay or similar sites without a declaration of authenticity as no serious collector will bid on it there and the offers you get for it will be if you're lucky a quarter of what it's worth. My rough estimate if the coin cleans up nicely and you get a declaration of authenticity is between 500 and 1000 euro however with some luck and a bidding war it could go higher.

A wonderful find! I'm kind of jealous seeing this. 😜

I collect and deal in ancient Roman coin. In case you're looking for affordable ancient coins or need any help with the coins you already have send me a message.

For me, the patina and dried clay around the hands of the coin is a strange phenomenon - if it was free in the ground, that is, without a container or bag.  But that's just my own opinion.

Thank you very much for your valuable advice about the coin I found! I did not expect to discover something like this. I found it about 15 cm deep in the soil in the middle of a forest road. I will return soon with details about its weight and dimensions for confirmation. I appreciate your recommendations on selling and estimating its value. It's truly an impressive find! I do not intend to sell it, but to keep it as part of my personal collection.😆

The coin was 15 cm in the ground. I had an ID of 94 on my Deus XP.

It reminds me of a desert patina - fine sand.  Damp clay leaves a different finish on these metals.  Again just mine and my opinion as I am humanly fallible.
