I have scoured all the images of the 1 sou Lower “Bas” Canada tokens. - can't find the below imaged token.  I'm either blind, or I might have a new variety.

Please help me in identifying this particular strike.  If it's a new variety, walk me through the process of submitting it to Numista.

Honest to God Luddite here.  At the backend of the technology bell curve.

Standard dimensions 27 mm, 7.66 gm

20 Cherry leaves, 2 Shamrocks (?), and an interesting clump of 5 oak leaves at bottom right of bouquet.

Thank you all,

Pes

PS: That's not a die crack in the “A” - nobody warned me about how badly German Shepherds shed.

a google search for

montreal 1 sou token

lead me to an e-bay item, which seems to be your token

If you want to add this token, the e-bay pictures are far better but i don't know, whether we need a permission(of e-bay?, of the seller?)

It appears that token on Ebay has clovers in the bottom right of the bouquet.  The one I have has 5 oak leaves in that quadrant. Also, my coin has 20 cherry leaves, the one on Ebay has fewer leaves.

Very many variants.

Thank you though.

It's this one:

http://numismatics.org/collection/0000.999.7428?lang=en

Which gives all the references including the Numista number.

Here's the Numista page for it: N#77299

It's referenced at the bottom of the page:

Thank you so much.

The image from the American Numismatic Society is the coin.

The Numista image you note has 2 shamrocks in the area that the 5 oak leaves are on the image I provided.

So, does a new entry need to be made in Numista?

Respectfully,

Pes

It is referenced on the same page as a variant of the one pictured.  I know next to nothing about these tokens other than what I learned in the past 20 minutes searching for yours.  I think they are generally cataloged by the top level style (e.g. 16 cherry leaves / 7 shamrocks, 20 cherry leaves / 2 shamrocks, etc.)  so yours belongs on the 20 cherry leaves / 2 shamrocks page.  You can/should Register a new example with your variety against the LC-33C1 year line.   You could use your pictures or those on the link I provided as American Numismatic Society (ANS) is an approved source for pictures.

You may want to discuss with the referee @FeeFoo to see if what I'm saying is correct.

Hello,

I am sorry I missed this thread before but I am here now!

The coin that this thread is about would indeed appear to be LC-33C.

Due to the fact that there are hundreds varieties of the same base token in the Canadian Colonial tokens category, they have been put together in the style and have varieties listed below.

The comments describing the varieties are confusing to me so I will change them and add the five oak leaves under LC-33C1 variety.

I do not believe there is a need for a new page for this variety as this will could make this already confusing part of the catalogue more confusing.

Yes, this is my cat

I LOVE THIS!!!

Thanks y'all.

Pes

So, it's a variant within the token series KM Tn5

Ever onward ever searching.
