1 Pound - Are they fakes ?

Here are four pieces that have suffered badly. They all have the same sandy appearance, they look like they are made of a poor quality alloy, is this a sign that they are counterfeits?

They look fine. A crude edge lettering would be a telltale sign

Yeah, I saw on the website of Mr. Midnight many different versions of edge lettering indicating a counterfeit.

But I don't see an evidence of fake even though it's a bit difficult to picture an edge 😬

 They look alright. The dates match the design …

 as that is one way to tell a forgery, when they do not match. 

That's for sure, if the date doesn't match the design, it's a good way to recognize a counterfeit !
But there have been so many counterfeits issued that hopefully there are some designs that match the correct dates :)
