Please help with £2 UK coin

Can anyone help me identify this coin. It has all the attributes of a £2 that i can see except for the centre.

I think the colors in the image in the catalog are misleading.  Pretty sure it's just a standard issue version of the coin:

The only thing that bothers me is that letter in the center.  There is no reference to it.  All other images appear to have some script type design there.
