Just want to know why this coin, as found in the link above, is listed as a ¼ dollar, when it clearly shows face value as 25c, and the ¼ dollar writing is nowhere to be found on the coin.

Looking at the USA catalog and other 25 Cents / ¼ Dollar, I'll suppose it was a force of habit, since all other modern coins are inscriped and named with ¼ Dollar.
According to the guidelines it should be named 25 Cents. So I would argue to changed the name to 25 Cents, maybe put quarter as a nick name?
But that's just my opinion :)
Other US coins with 25 Cents instead of ¼ Dollar are named 25 Cents
This was the only other modern coin I could find without “Quarter Dollar” on.
But there is a few of the historic coins with 25 Cents on, like:

In this coin (which I really like) quarter dollar is written on the dress ;)
I also believe that the correct thing to do would be to change the ¼ Dollar coin to 25 Cents, following Numista's guidelines.
CR submitted to fix title.

CR submitted to fix title.
Maybe a little late of me, but rember to correct the value field accordingly. Erase the ¼ Dollar and just have 25 Cents.

I did not since all the other quarters with 25 C (and the one with no written value) had ¼ Dollar = 25 Cents in the value field.
Well, the CR was validated and the title changed to 25 Cents "Washington Quarter" Wilma Mankiller. And afterwards someone else must have submitted a CR to change “25 Cents” in the title to “¼ Dollar” which was also validated. So we're back where we started. I give up.

Fixed :-)
Thanks!
In the US the Quarter and Dime coins don’t have the numeric value in it. It is awkward to call the quarter a 25 cents piece.
I’m guessing you didn’t look at the coin in question.
Great conversations about the subject, and glad to see a positive outcome.
What would happen if someone decided, in their infinite wisdom, to add the next UK 50 pence coin as “½ pound” or the next UK 20 pence coin as “1/5 pound”?
Thanks to all of the discussion responses
