Kennedy half dollar 1964 [επιλυμένο]

I have in my collection 2 pieces of 1964 Kennedy half dollar in gold colour and I'm looking for your opinion. 

I guess, that somebody plated circulated coins with gold for whatever twisted reason he got, but maybe I'm wrong. Except the gold colour, they look like normal N#943  to me and they're in the same diameter and thickness. 

Sadly, changing batteries didn't helped to my chinesium jeweller's scale, so I can't check the exact weight at the moment, but it seems they weight the same as standard N#943 . Another evidences are on the edges and on the damages - looks like a damaged plating to me.

No idea why somebody did that. Some kind of cheap scam is the only reason I can think of.

You can buy gold plating kits online, have one myself. Coins are a quick way to learn how it all works. I've used coins to practice with pen plating (where you use a thin tip to get the raised areas of the coin) failed, and then just plated the whole coin and threw them into the wild to confuse people 😂

Won't be one of mine though. I'm from UK 

It's a priceless feeling when you spent hours looking for any information and in the end you find out that it probably was some funny guy practicing gold plating 🤣

I have one of these in a gold plated silver bezel around here somewhere.

It's  from my year of birth.

Coin jewelry was really big in the 1980s.

I wore the pendant for years - until some of the gold plating started to wear off.
