Hi

I have a 1920 3 Pence George V but I don't know if it is a 1st issue or 2nd issue.

Does anyone know?

Thanks, Sofia

Appearance looks the same for both. Maybe tell by the sound.

N#2788 [1920-1927 (0.500)]

If you have at least one coin other than 1920, see what sound that makes, then compare.

Dose anyone know how many .500s were made, are they included in the sterling issue?

I only have one from 1918

I don't know how to work out sound or anything

Maybe since the thickness is different I could tell by that? But I don't know how to measure thickness

SCWC says the .500 is slightly larger (16.1 vs 16) but that may not be conclusive. It also says the 16M mintage is for both combines.

Judging by the color in the pictures, it it's accurate, I'd be inclined to guess it's the .500.

· You would not need measuring equipment in this situation for the thickness -

just hold the two coins against each other side-by-side and see if they are the same.

· For the sound I would drop it onto a table from a few inches above and hear the sound it makes.

Then repeat for the other coin - so 1918 should make a different sound from the presumably

second version [by the colour] 1920 coin. With it being 0.500 then other metals in the mix make it different.
