I have a probable German notgeld listed as being from Lauter, from the Sparkasse (savings bank) Lauter. It seems to be individually numbered on the reverse. I don't have a notgeld catalog and I'm not sure how to add this coin to Numista since it may require its own place which is now unlisted. Is this a proper notgeld, or is it exonumia? The dealer I bought it from seems to think it's an uncommon one, but doesn't know much about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Zinc, 24.2mm. The 2014and 2018 Menzel catalog lists this specimen as #18133.3 with a 40 euro value. Without a control number (#18133.2), it is listed at 250 euro. The Notgeld referee katermurr can probably comment on if it is exonumia vs notgeld.
That's cool! I would put this in Numista, but I'm not sure of what region to put it in since I think it would start a new category. I'm guessing this is the town of Lauter in Saxony, but my German geography is not good. Any advice would be much appreciated.
I don't know if I can add a city or town in Numista without the topic moderator's help though. I guess I'll need them to weigh in before I can add this coin. Thanks to everyone for the information though, it's nice to know some history about this coin.
