Just saying, I hate those sort of things (plated bars), since they are of no value whatsoever. However, your coins are great, but I am not interested, since I don't collect modern coins, and I don't collect American coins from after the civil war.
My favorite rare coin is a 1933 5 cents coin from The Netherlands. I got it in a bulk lot who only cost me 10 euros. The only bad thing is that the coin is in a very worn condition, but I still got a rare coin very cheap!

Απόσπασμα: dptashnyWhat's you favorite coin, from eBay or any other site, were the seller claims it to be rare?
The last two replies missed that this Topic is not about actual rare coins, but those that are claimed by a seller to be rare, which are actually not. Hence the Topic title says "rare" and not rare.
The 1/4 Anna of British India has to be the worst.. I picked one up for £0.01 on eBay the other day and 99p p&p.. Not really worth selling IMO ! But anyway you often see them with scarce etc on the titles and its just not true and truly peeves me - I hope all new collectors find us before they buy on eBay. I bought a UKL 1 Anna coin with Radha Krishna on thinking it to be genuine - turns out it's just a temple token
I especially love seeing these plated coins advertised on TV as "Plated in 24K gold" and "Clad in .999 pure gold" especially at "the low price of $29.95". I'd rather save for real gold than buy this junk.

P.S. This coin was a gift.

gold plated LOL that reminds me of when i was a kid. in walkers (lays) crisps had these things called soccer shields in and there were better players and it was for a game so we all used to collect 'em at school and play them etc, and there was a gold shield to be found worth a lot of money.. so i had a really common one - i needed to get alan shearer the only newcastle player i never had. so i painted one of my swaps gold and swapped for him but the paint come off so i swapped back LOL
don't worry i'm not like this now but i was 5/6 at the time so i guess i was a creative child !

My "favorites" would have to be US Silver Eagles.......those coins have HUGE mintages, and sellers are always trying to make them sound like the be all and end all of coin collecting. I'm sorry, the 1996 Silver Eagle is not rare, and never will be. A mintage of over 3,000,000 for a modern silver coin with no attrition rate does not make a rarity and the fact that the 1996 has the lowest mintage of business strike Silver Eagles ensures that NONE of them are rarities!!
