Practice makes perfect. In the beginning it takes some time but it gets easier and easier. To remove the ten remnants in the picture below it only took a few minutes.
It's much easier when you zoom in as far as you can (500 % is the maximum). Sometimes the picture is too big and not everything you want to alter is viewable. In that case use the navigation window in the lower right corner of the picture. Here you can choose the size of the cloning. Start with the biggest one and lower down if necessary
Click to choose an area to clone as short as possible to the area you want to alter to avoid color chances of the surrounding area as much as possible. Move your mouse to the area you want to alter and click. If you're not satisfied with the result there's an undo button at the lower right corner When you click, the distance and angle between the clone zone and the altering zone is set. This means there is a very big chance you have to reset that distance and angle for every altering. You do this by clicking another button, for instance the "Paint brush" button and then directly again on the "Clone stamp" button
