Good afternoon ,

New member trying to gain insight into things from his late mothers property.

I believe this note would have come from a family member who would have been serving during the second world war.

My question regards the serial number being , what appears to be very low and also a date ?

I see the numista rating for it is 97, does that mean its just an area people arent searching for , or is actually a scarce note ?

Does the low serial number add value or is it purely condition related ?

It always helps to link the subject: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/note285724.html

This is only the 2nd time I’ve seen this note in anyone’s personal collection. I have the other, and it’s the one you see pictured.

There are a few on eBay, always $150+ ( but usually in better condition). That is a very low serial number indeed, but I’m not sure it would command much of a premium for sale. The current catalog lists this note as $23 in VG and $125 in VF.

The 97 index just means only 1 (I think) person has is listed in their collection at numista (me). 100 means nobody has it, 4 means just about everybody has it saved. Understand that the NRI 97 does not account for anything outside of numista. There could be thousands available, but only what is catalogued here affects the NRI. If you add the note to your collection and refresh the screen, I think the NRI will decrease. The numista banknote library is very new (less than 2 years old), so all of the NRIs will drastically decrease in a few years.

In my sole opinion, it is a rare note. I would estimate my pictured note as approximately VG, and yours as approximately F.
Thank you for the reply and also the insight given .

Apologies for not including the link as you demonstrated.
