The date is this coin has only 3 digits as against the 4 that should have been present. So does this qualify as an error coin ?

India - Rupees 2 - KM#121.

That coin doesn't exist with a year 200X. I'd say it's a little more than an error. What's the obverse look like? It also does not look like copper-nickel. Is it magnetic?

Clearer photos in bright light. Sorry about the quality of the earlier pic. This coin is non magnetic for sure. Looks like copper-nickel.
A 200X 2 Rupees National Integration coin is eleven sided. Yours is round.

Look a little closer at the dates.
I think deliberate PMD. What is the diameter? I find it odd that the outer area detail is missing on both sides including the area that the third 0 in 2000 would lie. I suspect coin edge has been reworked to make it round and the outer area flattened to hide the re-working. Probably placed in a hydraulic press with some washers or similar. I'll be more confident this is the case if the diameter proves to be slightly less than the 11 sided version.

It appears that there is no size difference in the coins unless both the coins that I have are errors or have been tampered with.
Re difference in diameter - am talking about flattening of the eleven points on the edge. Probably 0.1-0.4mm difference. Hard to tell that from images. Can you measure with calipers to 0.1mm? Also, the coin you are comparing it to is also quite worn so in effect, tampered with, albeit via natural circulation.

Thank you all for your valuable insights. I have come to the conclusion that the coins in qustion have been tampered with and would not qualify as errors. Since the question has been answered i am locking this thread for any more replies.
