Argentina 5 Centavos 1985-1988 Thick vs thin flan.

Hello,

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between KM# 72.1 and KM# 72.2? My Krause catalog simply says thick or thin flan (what's a flan?).

The 1986 issues are listed under both with a difference in weight (here on Numista). It's really confusing. Can anyone help?

Thanks.
A "flan" or "planchet" is simply the disc of metal that is used to mint a coin. The difference will be in the thickness of the planchet and the weight. I don't have the coins myself to show the comparison, but I imagine that the "thick" would be the same size as all 1985 coins and a "thin" the same size as all 1987/88 coins.

Hope this helps!
Let's talk about the km97 right? Only for 1986 you might get confused because it exists in 2 versions.
As mentioned by the others:
KM#97.1 (previously KM#72.1) - 5 grams, 1.8 mm thick
KM#97.2 (previously KM#72.2) - 4.1 grams, and should be about 1.5 mm thick
Απόσπασμα: "tdziemia"As mentioned by the others:

Nice greetings and wishes for health.

KM# 97,1 5g, 1986 Argentine cougar, or Puma (Puma concolor cabrerae)

(what's a flan?).
Thick flan.

weight higher 5,06 g , that thickness is just under 1.76 mm -however, these are non-professional scales and a sliding ruler without regular calibration -so we tolerate this deviation as we recently addressed in another thread.

have a nice day Ivan
