Hello,

Exonumia currently has the following types:
  • Fantasy currency
  • Fantasy items of fictional places

I wonder whether it really makes sense to distinguish both types. These coins are fantasy coins, and for me it doesn't matter whether their editor chose a real geographical place (e.g. Darfur or Cocos Island), a micronation, an asteroid (e.g. Koronis), a made up country (e.g. Viinamarisaar) or a fictional place (e.g. Westeros).

I let you vote whether these two types should be merged.

Yes please because a couple of weeks ago before the Exoumia catalog was created I posted a topic about “Fantasy coins that depicts real countries” not as a idea but to help me note down every Exonumia coin that depicts a real country that did not issue their own coins Kosovo or Guam for example.

I did this because of my every single country goal but some countries don’t issue any coinage but they exist in Exonumia form which some people may disagree as a “real” country.

Finally this would save a lot of time from scrolling through irrelevant coins which took me a whole week to note all of them down so if you implement this, this would help and can you put a subcategory within them as well please.

Some examples/ideas
  • Pre 1999 ECU
  • Fantasy Euro (Europe,Oceania and the list of counties)
  • Name of the “country” because some have not been categorised.
  • Finally similar to how they were displayed before the new catalog can the “countries” be displayed like the photo below.

Thanks

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
It would be nice to have on the page an hyperlink to the Wikipedia of the country, micronation or whatever it is, this way just by pointing the mouse on the name you know exactly what we are speaking about, and we will not need to differentiate fictional place from the others.
Always look on the bright side of life!

It already more or less exists <:D

I mean something more interactive like the engraver widget we have. When you are on the coin page.

Nice idea.👍

I think a distinction between micronations and fantasy places (for example) is important; however, I also think that distinction would be better made in an Exonumia country list, similar to Coins/Banknotes.

So... I would vote 'yes' for combining these fantasy types. :)

That’s what I had in mind.

That is perfect! DO NOT MERGED these two! To have them seperated would be the best choice!
Have a nice day to all colleagues -and especially health.

Please, my opinion is that it is necessary to distinguish countries and regions that never exist, and, according to history, scientists and archaeologists, did not even exist.

Then there are the hundreds of countries in the region territory with rulers, kings , council - Which for some reason did not mark coins and had a different payment system.

This is my personal example and anger:

Great Moravian Empire  : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Moravia
The empire of the whole of Central Europe was recognized by all rulers and the whole world.

-Yes, they did not have their own coins , the goods were exchanged, trifles of daily necessities on the market was paid with a piece of woven canvas ( further east even pieces of leather -even in the south ,, kuna ,,)
-Not as mentioned now, a country that does not have a coin and no one recognizes it.

And now there is currency in the "exonumuii" of coins ,,denarius ,, Great Moravian Empire ,, -maybe it's going to be made by some madman ,some unknown mint , I don't think it deserves to be compared to ..non-recognition?or any unknown planet.
-So please now it's an unknown country and a fictitious currency
Unknown country : https://en.numista.com/catalogue/exonumia228786.html

It is unfair and offensive. Thanks for reading.
Enjoy life Ivan

I think that there should be an option button to have them both included and have them separated by a floater for example that includes excludes fictional places. Also a question for you Xavier would this include local issued currency such as Darfur and Republic of Molossia because I see it as being included with what I posted before and with fantasy currency and pre 1999 ECU, fantasy Euro.

Also ngdawa I agree to a certain extent of the two being separate but maybe there could be a button that include, excludes them to be easier to note down.

I believe that's a good example. Great Moravia did exist in the past, so I don't consider it as a fictional place. For sure it's a fictional currency, but the same applies to all the exonumia items in the category "Fantasy currency".

Even if Great Moravia is a real historical place, I believe this item is as much a fantasy as the tokens from Viinamarisaar, which is a fictional place (it never existed beyond the imagination of their creator). So having different categories for both doesn't really make much sense to me.

Have a nice day.

First of all, thank you for your attention and expression.
Yes, there are different views and opinions, everything has its own story and legend.
But I live in that fictional place and I can see the church from the windows of my bedroom which is on the coin. because it was not issued in time and place long ago, not in coins but in exonumia.
place is not fiction, A legend can be fiction to someone , these are here on the numist forbidden topics politics - religion.

I'm not so focused on how it turns out, just the country's request must not be unknown when it's a denarius of the "Great Moravian Empire"
It's up to you and your team -you are doing a good job-and beneficial to the world of numismatics.
( I created the coin as a thank you to the doctors who saved my life in Prague and people who helped me receive it as a gift -I don't care about gain or accuracy, I just want people to be pleased , This is what my thanks to people look like, I'm just a numismatist)
I'm adding a solution:

So I quickly solved the problem a,the legend will be erased and everything around it
b, I wrote Great Moravia on the denar

I did an A4 for one nurse yesterday-nurse now deployed on the virus, I also make A5 with a coin( five minutes ago) that I hastily adapted
just for example and the patina did not stick to the aluminum :
a moment ago: clearly marked Great Moravia

So thank you for dealing with and solving Ahoj Ivan

Ivan, no one is saying that it's a fictional place, it is the coin and its currency that is fictional.

Hi and nice greetings to the North.
Now I made 4 coins for the show, they are the ones on A5 and one where I wrote the country if necessary, I will also set out the name of the currency I'll write a denarius ( I can't have another currency when I declare the date on the coin)

Yes, coins are fiction ,, but that's what Exonumia is about that's exactly what it's about you know how many other coins are made by the central mints and they are absolute nonsense even some recognized states give nonsense. therefore this section is also, and notice I have clearly stated the date of 2020 .In terms of content, it is religious and political topics ,,I state that I am not religious and active-and I am not an incorrect politician does not scare me and faith is man 's belief in a better tomorrow and in recovery and faith in good.
thanks to you too.
I only add what is already written there: It is an imitation of a non-existent coin could not be issued and manufactured -The Franks would never allow it, for political and religious reasons,, who is interested in history knows how known ruler ,, Rostislav,, ended up,,

Ivan

This old topic was solved. https://en.numista.com/forum/topic152166.html
